I am an American planning on traveling to Manchester to finally see my sky blues in action for the first time. While it is still a ways away until I will be making my trip, I am trying to iron out some details. Any advice you guys may have who are living in and around Manchester is greatly appreciated. Good hotels/bad hotels. Areas to visit/avoid. is it best to rent a car/subway. Any advice is welcome, cheers!

Choose a televised game or be prepared for a possible fixture change.

Considering we shit the bed against arsenal, midweek games unfortunately might not be a problem for us next year... But when the fixture list comes out June 15th I will surely be looking for one of the bigger games

I didn't mean for the bigger game, what tends to happen is you plan travel, accommodation etc for the weekend then the match gets moved to a Monday night. Right pain in the arse when it happens.

A game that's already televised is less likely to be moved. Unless following champions league fixtures.

I totally understand and that is the biggest worry I have. Just want to see my blues in action. I'd give anything to make it happen

Are you looking for a standard seat with the other muggles or you wanna go for a package to include dinner, padded seats etc? Might be worth the latter for a one off. More expensive but availability often not a problem due to the costs.

If you are looking to soak up the normal match atmosphere then you'll want a standard ticket (south stand if poss) and get to the townley/Mary ds earlier before going to city square prior to KO.

Sure some of the regulars can give some better advice though.

Good luck and enjoy.

You'll stand out like a sore thumb then and will probably be asked to leave by the librarians.

Main advice, pack a coat. And sunglasses. And a wooly hat.

for now my goal is to get there, be roaring drunk, and yell as loud as I can the entire match. If im asked to leave, so be it. Ill go to the MEN and Robson will write a story up about my plight and the entire culture in the etihad will change. Thats the plan for now, subject to change

Looks like I am a few years late to the party. Should've caught a game at Maine Road, eh?

Now you are talking! North stand Maine Rd would have been jumping even in the 3rd division I know coz I was there and loved every minute of it.

Don't set the chap up for an uncomfortable time. You need to shorts, sledge, sun cream, body warmer, sandals, thermals, knotted hankie, wool socks, sleeveless t shirt and sturdy Wellington boots.

Oh and a storm proof Umbrella.
