Kompany out of Euros

Has put a post on Facebook (can someone share).

I think his career could be at an end if I'm honest.

Gutted for him. A proper legend and very hard to replace.

I am in the camp that will be sad when he goes. A proper leader who has led us to glory that I could not imagine. That said, I do think the time is right for him to be taken out of the firing line, whether that is a squad place like MDM or to be sold. We cannot rely on him to be first choice any longer. Personally, I'd like him to stay but whether he would be happy with a bit part role I'm unsure

The muen are saying he's gone to see a specialist in Barcelona hoping to be fit for the euro's wtf.
He should knock that thought out of his head straight away

He's not going to the Euros. He's made a statement on Facebook.

To me that's very sad news.

So I could be standing here, feeling sorry for myself. I could fear for my career, as others may do. I could give up.

That is not me.

I decide on my future .

There is a bigger picture to everything in life and only failing to see it, will cause me to fail.

I am a hard worker and a fighter and if you are too, then you know that, to people like us, success can come in many forms. We trust ourselves when the going gets tough.

I have the greatest respect for those who overcome their personal challenges in life with a positive attitude.

I want to live up to that.

So I remain calm and positive. I will continue to follow my path and I will do so with more conviction than ever.

I trust my friends and teammates to do well and do us proud at the next European Championships in France. I am now officially their most fervent supporter and I will be there to support them.

Written from my hospital,

Never giving up,

Vincent Kompany

Breaking news now on SSN that he's out of the Euros. Not that they are bastions of impartial and trustworthy journalism, but you just can't see him recovering. Plus Belgium already have Vertonghen and Vermulen as decent centre backs with Denayer as back up

Gutted for him.

I hope he stays, but he has to be OK with being a backup player. It's obvious we can't build our defence around him.

Should retire and become a pundit. Has more intelligence and eloquence than the rest of the half wits they have at the moment

Might be for the best that he takes some time out. The euros would have been disastrous for him. I hope he gets managed like sturridge was at Liverpool. Given lots of time to get it right and not allowed to come back until 100% was 100% and not just propaganda

I know he wants to captain his country but whether told to, or by his own decision, he should get a full summer long rest with surgery if necessary to get fully fit for his club.If he gets injured at the Euros he will let down both club and country.

Much is made by the anti City brigade about his injury record with City as if City have caused it but from memory it seems that he was ok for the first four years with toe injuries etc but no bad muscle injuries which have been recurrent in the last four years.

It seems to me that after the first title he bulked up considerably and was never the same player afterwards and I keep wondering if the constant gym work is part of the problem although I am well aware of the fact his age might be a factor.

The media blame our medical team but he doesn't get treated by club staff he goes to leading world specialists and they cannot sort him and he siffers from strains to different parts of his body.

It is a mystery but also a crying shame for him, City and Belgium.

i'm not sure what he would require surgery for as all his bastard injuries seem different than the last.

Anyway, i don't agree it's the bulking up, etc stuff...i literally think he comes back trying to tear up trees and overextends himself when he isn't actually fully fit.

I bet to a man if we got him shitfaced he would tell us he hasn't been fully fit for 2 years, and a lesser man would have sat out for 4 months or whatever was required to get fully fucking fit.

Anyway, a club legend for sure. A great man, and advocate and ambassador for sure. A player for us next season of any consequence? You'd have to bet No to that one.

Good luck Vince....always a prince lad.

cheers

A report from a Belgian football commentator with a good track record that Kompany's out for 4 months. Any doubt about buying a top centre back is ended.

big blow for Belgium who had to have been in the top 3 favorites (with France & Germany) to win the tournament.

surely that means Alderweireld will move from RB to CB alongside Vertonghen/Vermaelen. wonder if Denayer will get the call at RB?

Seems obvious that he is now fighting to save his career. I hope City give him as much time as he needs and support him. The man is an absolute legend.
