just failed a dope test.
Liverpool should forfeit points from any match he's played in this season. aka they shouldn't advance in the Europa League.
Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho is being investigated by UEFA for an alleged anti-doping allegation.
The 26-year-old France international centre-back has been omitted from the Liverpool team to face Newcastle United in Saturday's Premier League game at Anfield as a result, but he has not been suspended from playing by either his club or UEFA.
After discussions between the club's owners Fenway Sports Group, manager Jurgen Klopp and the player himself it was decided he should not play in the immediate future, even though he is still eligible for Premier League matches and Thursday's Europa League semi-final first leg in Villarreal.
The alleged offence relates to the Reds' Europa League second-leg tie at Manchester United on March 17 - which they drew 1-1 to progress 3-1 on aggregate - and is believed to concern a so-called 'fat-burning' substance.
Sakho is highly likely to request his B sample be tested, with the deadline for that request set for Tuesday.
A statement on Liverpool's official website read: "Yesterday, Friday 22nd April 2016, a formal communication was received from UEFA stating that they are investigating a possible anti-doping rule violation by Mamadou Sakho.
"The player will respond to UEFA on the matter.
"The player is currently not subject to any playing suspension. However, the club, in consultation with the player, has decided that while this process is followed the player will not be available for selection for matches.
"There will be no further comment at this time."

Read it was a fat burner he was taking. Similar to what Kolo Toure was taking when playing for us.

doesnt matter. still against the rules right?
and if Kolo failed it then Sakho should def know it'd be an issue if he took it.
plenty of players over here in the NFL get banned for failing drug tests after taking nominal supplements.

Never said it was the same fat burner. The problem with some of these supplement companies is they don't always fully list what is in them. As you should know they aren't regulated by the FDA. Can't remember which company but a few years ago it was discovered one has steroids in their protein powder.

So you think we should have forfeited points when Kolo took his wife's diet pills??
...or are you still bitter that your precious dortmund gave up a 2 goal lead to get knocked out of the cup by the dippers hahahaha
you're a dortmund fan #1 and City fan #2, it's plain for all to see. fuck off mate

Haha ye that's just being bitter. Dortmund can only blame themselves for that pathetic collapse
But on the actual topic. Anyone who thinks Sakho (or Kolo back in the days) did not deliberately dope themselves is so stupid they should not be allowed outside. Professional athlete taking diet pills pmsl. Those either have certain PED effects or they mask the effects of other drugs which is why they are used

You're out. Hard luck. If anyone were to get put back in it'd be united, not your lot. But there is no precedent for that to happen, so there you go.
Your right leg I like; I've got nothing against your right leg. The trouble is neither have you.

Does the club face any ban?
If UEFA is investigating and he played a huge part in the Dortmund game, what happens now?

1. Dortmund stay knocked out of the Europa League after giving up a 2 goal lead to the dippers
2. Dortmund's star players start to question if they should stay or look for greener pastures
3. Dortmund sell their star players
4. phips crys
5. I laugh

I wish Bony would have been caught using a banned substance at the start of this season! It's not fair.

even if that's true--and its not by the way--why does that mean i have to "fuck off".
quit being so exclusive and thinking only people who gets City tats and refuse to wear red and were born in Manchester can be supporters.

That's speculation. Phips doesn't allow that. Not where Dortmund are concerned.
