Kries wasn't a hard act to follow though and he has some talent to work with. It's such a shame Angelina had to spend the season with Kries and not Vieira as it's well documented he likes him.

Do we have any kids on loan there now, or has the lack in progress in Angelino and Facey made us more cautious about MLS loans?

No none. Which is really strange as they worked under paddy for years and now he gets a decent job we don't send anyone.

I think we had really high hopes for Angelino, but were taken aback by how poor the quality of the league really was and of how little he learned.

I suspect only kids we've more or less given up on (for City) will be sent there from now on.

I hope we expand our link with Wagner in charge at Huddersfield - I really like what I've heard about him so far. 4-2-3-1 playing the ball out of defence and pressing when they lose the ball. Early days but they've done alright in preseason so far against lower opposition, they face Liverpool on Wednesday so it might give give them a tougher challenge. (If I were a betting man I'd have a sneaky wager on them reaching the playoffs).

Wright-Phillips had been in a serious scoring drought before that goal...months long.

Vieira just ejected from the game for "irresponsible behaviour" towards the referee.

NYCFC almost gave up a 3rd on an awful pass from the back.

Must admit I don't have the same enthusiasm for NYC when they go behind.

I hear you there. 2 behind isn't helpful either, and it's EXTREMELY hot on the pitch...

Oh, well probably going to be 3 now...Pen awarded

He was like that as EDS manager, just more fuel to the argument that ge isn't necessarily Pep's ideal successor

Watched the entire match. I watch about one MLS match a month. It's shite. I dunno why I ever bother.

Cheers

Lampard shows he still has it with a hat trick in NYC 5-1 win over Colorado Rapids. Still top of the table, well done up to now Paddy

Yeah, if only it weren't for that pesky other NY team...

Which prompts me to ask a question or two of our North American colleagues, or indeed anyone who knows the answer...

Why does the MLS play 34 games when there are potentially 38 home and away games for a team playing the teams in both Conferences, and who decides who plays whom and whether home or away - and so why have NYC played NYRBs three times this season (seems to be hogging the fixture list a bit that)?

Travel is a bit of an issue in the states to play teams home and away on opposite coasts would really jack up the operating cost of the league and take its toll on the players. Im not sure of the exact algorithm but they play more in conference matches (east & west) then out of conference.

Watching the start of the Lampard vs Slippy game now and some woman's singing the Star Strangled Banner and the crowd are whooping and hollering. This seems a weird way to start a match. Is it normal? For the start of NYC games I mean, not for Americans. Surprised they haven't burst into a chorus of U-S-A!! U-S-A!! actually.
