direct competition for Sterling with Kevin in the middle and Silva "on the right"?
Doubt it with Silva, Pep likes pace on the flanks.

why is 30 the death knell? with medicine these days and how athletes take care of themselves 30 shouldn't be that bad.

There's still a drop off around there, it's a just a genetic fact of life. Especially for those players who smoke/drink regularly.

A baseball player I have barely heard of, Giancarlo Stanton, is making about ($25m) £17m a season over 13 years ($325m) £222m. Some other baseball players earn even more per year ($31m) £21m, but just not over as many years.

It's true. I've been saying it for years. Now admittedly the revenue from the Prem has lagged some American sports by 30-40% but that gap is closing.
If Pogba was an NBA player he'd have a max contract that paid him $25m a year and endorsements which earned another 1/2 of that p.a. Easy peasy.
If I were the Sheik I'd pay that without flinching. Football is odd. Esp now with all the billionaires owning clubs. The upside is there as City have shown when you get your cock and balls out and invest in some shit.
Cheers

But there are only 30 teams in MLB split across a population similar to England, France, Spain, Italy and Germany combined. In those top leagues there a total 98 teams. Then there is the fact that language really separates means that a max contract should really be more like a third of that of MLB. I havent forgotten about the Asian market but to be fair all I've seen is knock off kits.
