Leadership

Postby PrezIke » Sat Feb 06, 2016 5:40 pm

Of the players we are rumoured to be signing in the summer are any of them really leaders?

We are going to need at least one real one next season, and it needs to be a player that will play regularly since Vinny is such a high risk to be a sick note.

Pogba is not that guy I don't think. Messi? Okay sure, but that's a fantasy and he speaks little/no English, I believe.

You have to think we are going to be looking for some in the summer in some form. Who? I can't really say right now, but enough is enough.

our squad is dominated by a 'big' character who has too much influence over everything

Hart might be appointed (Neuer has been promoted to vice captain at Bayern this season)

He doesn't show that influence where it matters. Nor do you see him being a leader on the pitch.

In Komps absence I'd rather see Zabba captain or Joe.
I haven't a fecking clue what I'm doing! Gillie come back man I want my sig back. As the Photobucket thingy gone?

Totally agree. He knows, we all know this is last few months for him here. Everyone knew he should have gone last year.

Weird enought with Zaba.

It never seems that he gets the captain armband. Remember one game a few months ago when Dave took it instead of him. Weird.

He was vice-captain under Mancini and Pellegrini stripped him of it when he arrived and gave it to Yaya.

Pellegrini's biggest mistake was not stripping Yaya the vice captaincy after cakegate even though he played a role in winning the league.

Yes, but I saw that Yaya, Silva, Kolarov and Hart got the armband everytime in front of him. Makes you wonder If actually something happend.

It is hard to think that Zaba is not a big figure in the dressing room.

We chose the slowest 2 full backs in the squad today against arguably the quickest forward line in the Prem. I think the leadership needs to be from the top, so this will improve when MP leaves as we have regressed under his "leadership." I think Zaba and Vinnie are good leaders. I'm assuming a new, dominant central midfielder will arrive with the new manager. It's hard to know which new players will be leaders without seeing them regularly.

Picking Zabba over Sagna was the rright choice imo as he offers so much more going forward. Kola had such a mare today that in a hindsight maybe Clichy would've been the right choice but seriously I do not see how that would have changed the game. (and before you start going on about Clichy being the better defender that imo is bollocks and it is just as likely that Mahrez would've gone past him as well for the 1st so that's).

You still need on the pitch leadership as well. The manager cannot do everything and Guardiola is going to have the same problems when he does arrive.

Hart is a decent shout though I don't like the fact that after a big loss like today he's all smiles after the game joking around with opponents. Zabba on the other hand look properly pissed off which is the reaction I want to see.

I'm praying for a miracle that Vinnie stays fit because I have no idea where we are gonna find similar leader. and while we are it, even if Yaya plays, never ever give him the armband ffs!

Yes, I would agree that Zaba does offer enough to justify a place but Martin and Kola in the same defence is not good. I did pick Clichy in my pre match team ( not hindsight).

Leadership starts with the manager. This season he hasn't done that as well it would seem. This then filters down to the players and the captain and vice captain and experienced guys in the dressing room. Leicester, man for man, on paper, are poorer individually than we are but they all pull together and that starts with Ranieri. You can see that they pull together for each other. We don't.

I can't even remember when we last had a continued good leader. Some of the older fans talk about Mike Doyle and players like that, but for my generation I've really never seen a good one.

Jamie Pollock is the closest to a 'leader' I've seen playing for us.

I agree, he's not a better defender, he's a better footballer.

Always got the impression that Zabs played below his standards when he had the armband.

Ah true! I really can't remember anyone after him. Pearce had a crack but wasn't here long enough.
