i don't believe that the club's position is to prioritize the CL over the League at all. What leads you to believe that? The Count's shite lineup at the weekend? That was just some old cunt being smarter than everyone else, not some club mandate. He legit picked a side he thought could win. Therein, the debate.

The "club" as it were -- meaning Khaldoon and Mansour, et al. let's assume -- want what the Count has supposedly always done with very rare exception -- balls to the walls attempts to win every cunting fuck match, playing "our style and our way" first and foremost as a cultural rule of thumb. 100% sizzle backed up by 100% quality content when asked "where's the beef?"

Why you'd think otherwise is beyond me really.

cheers

Maybe my reading of the situation is way off the mark then. I was under the impression that one of the main reasons Pellegrini was hired, was to further our cause in Europe. That is not to say we dont want to win every game but i'm sure i saw/read somewhere quotes by the Sheikh saying priorities were CL, PL, FA then C1 cup.

My post is a personal one in that i'd prefer us to win the domestic title over a European one. I'm sure i am not alone in this. Of course i hope City win, but for me, as i said i would swap a win tonight for more in the PL.

Yes, i am sure Pellegrini truly believed the side he selected on Saturday was good enough to win the game but i bet he had at least one eye on tonights game and selected his side accordingly. Turns out he was wrong but thats hindsight for you

So you're saying that Dinho and Otamendi weren't rested with tonight in mind?

I've been waiting to see how Sterling would perform with Clichy behind him, given that Clichy would just play a support act rather than look to overlap every time like Kolarov does I think it may lead to Sterling taking the fullback on more rather than checking his run, guess I'll have to wait a little longer.

Gone for defensive solidity. Clichy for Kolarov and Navas for Sterling. Sterling can be unleashed in the second half against tiring defenders? Like most people I like the midfield three. I hope Fernando plays better than on Saturday now he has proper support from Fernandinho and that Toure pulls his fucking finger out and at least shows something going forward. Main worry MdM's lack of pace.

Worried again with this team selection and our bench possibly could be the youngest ever in the CL ?
If Kun gets injured again we are fucked for sure !!!
Not really here

Dont mind the lineup. Hope Clichy is match-fit though.

That bench...oh boy.

The right team IMO for a tough, important away fixture in Europe. Set up to nullify the opposition whilst having width and pace to hurt on the break. A point tonight means Juventus would then have to win in Seville to top the group? Assuming we don't best BMG of course.

I don't mind the line up in the circumstances. I would have dropped Sterling before tonight so no complaints. I hope we can get something out of the game, but keeping Aguero etc fit is the main priority

If our priority is CL we will be re-thinking that if we draw Barca at any point, they look to be playing a different game and smashing teams better than us. Negative I know, burst last night was scary and amazing!

A point tonight means we top the group with a win in our final match regardless of what Juve do.

Not going to complain at the team selection and hope we set up as we did with the Rags rather against the Dippers.

Come on the Blues.
