I'd guess they would rather finish last than 3rd.
If they get Europa League, all the better for us.

Indeed, and them not finishing second means we have a better chance of avoiding PSG in the knockouts should we top our group.

Ludicrous to think that's actually an option.

They have to grab two wins now and from the way they played last night...nope.

It'd be hilarious if Bayern put out the kids and played for a draw against Olympiakos.

It will be even more hilarious if spuds get the points on Sunday.

Spuds and Scousers winning in the tinpot doesn't hurt us one bit, however Lazio, Fiorentina and Napoli all won which does us no favours. Losing West Ham and Soton have hurt us so much this campaign already. One more club than Italy and we've only managed to stay on par with them. If things were to end as they are right now, we lose our 4th spot next season.

And yes, I know we're not finishing 4th but losing the spot would make it harder to get back and there is always the possibility this comes back to hurt us.

If Arse win in Greece I suspect they will still qualify. It's far from over.
It would help us as a nation retain our position above the Italians and keep stretching Arsenal's squad into the latter part of the season. Even if it is very funny as it stands.

From a selfish perspective, I would hope we do lose the extra champions league spot. It cuts off a massive source of revenue to a potentially resurgent Manchester United or Liverpool. Not only does a club lose CL revenue, they lose the ability to negotiate top tier sponsorships if they arent consistently in the top competition.

Of course its easy for me to say that with the current Manchester City unlikely to finish lower than 3rd, but even if we did, as FFP crumbles, we can once again invest with more freedom as has been the case historically. It may however cause clubs like the rags and liverpool on the periphery to gamble and lose bigtime!

I can see them winning in Greece but winning by two clear goals is another matter.

Anyway, arse two down and out of the chumps.

Is this good for us? Personally I think we'll win the league regardless

Doesn't need to be a sticky. It's one of those that we can always use (phips will be happy) no matter how long between games. If there is a game on other than city, use this thread.

The only thing is Bob, that the thread disappears and then another one is started.

I can't sleep properly knowing this might happen again.

It would be handy having it permanently on page one.
The EDS thread would be good there too.

Too many stickies drive the active threads down the board. I hate having too many stickies but that's a personal thing. Happy to oblige if people think it's better.

I'm with Zuri.

Whatever keeps that absolute fucking bell end phips of the Maine Forum, I'm happy with.
I get you Bob, there was too many stickies a while ago and the active threads were halfway down the page, but this is a sticky that will be used more than any other and is probably the most repeated thread.

My tuppence !

Then just fucking login sometime over the weekend.

It's not like we've got 100 threads started over a weekend. I bet it's more like a fucking dozen.

It's hard work starting threads when you're busy with pipe cleaners and teaching your poodle to fetch your newspaper off the front porch.
