2 Gay Premiership Footballers

Just been reading that apparently there are two Premiership footballers, one an England international, that will be coming out as openly gay soon. I'm not bothered about whether you think it's right or wrong, obviously everyone has free will. What I want to know is apart from John O'Shea who do you think the other one is?

Does Lallana have a girlfriend or wife?

Rumours are that the non English one is Nasri as he's apparently just broken up with his girlfriend?

It isn't Luke Shaw he's been defending himself on twitter

I could see that actually. It's interesting and would open the door for more to come out.

Who ever they are, I applaud them and wish them the best of luck. I also think it's a bit ridiculous that we should be able to guess based on looks/mannerism, etc.

Not all straight men are hard as nails alpha men, and not all homo's like Euro disco and interior design.

I'd that the scotch premiership or the rugby one?

It's pathetic that they have to 'come out' - why should anyone care what anyone's preferences are in this day and age. That said, unfortunately they will get grief off fans wherever they go, including the Etihad, so the best of luck to them and maybe they'll make the difference for others in the future

They will get mauled at away games. It's a very brave decision for them to make and I hope people get behind them and support them. But will anyone have the courage to pull fans up if they are being homophobic towards them, I doubt it very much.

They'll probably be a long queue of blokes who'd like to get behind them tbf.

And it is courage esp if they're still in the middle of a promising career. Doff of the cap to them if they do it.

Cheers

That depends on the attitude of the club. I got into an argument a few years back with the guy behind me over the constant racist abuse. The steward offered to relocate me.

What a pathetic and ridiculous topic for discussion. Let people love who they want and look at your own fucking shire lives.

Its a shame it is a big deal. I couldn't give a flying shite about people's sexuality. One in ten men are gay so there must have been hundreds who we have hero worshipped. What difference does it make who they like slurping their cocks? None whatsoever.

Didn't some guy come out and subsequently top himself about ten years ago? I hope whoever they are, they will be able to handle it

I'd like to think in this day and age it won't be an issue for most football fans. There may be 1 or 2 idiots at a game who might think it funny to make a 'joke', but they're likely to be in a very small minority.

Generally, football fans' allegiance lies to their club and so if someone scores a winning goal or makes a last ditch tackle to save the day, then they'll be considered a hero, whatever their sexuality.

For the record, I hope this story is true. Whilst a footballer's sexuality should be no issue, the rare occasion it has come up in the past has been a problem for certain people. So we need to move past it so that it is not even a consideration for generations to come.

Not that it matters, like someone said above....it doesn't matter. There must have been hundreds of gay footballers over the years. I'll be shocked if anyone on here hasn't got a gay friend or relative.

Fashanu of course came out and it contributed to him taking his own life, probably didn't help he was black either. Hitzlsperger is the most recent case I can think of, but he waited til he retired.

Shouldn't even have to come out, but hopefully if these 2 do come out, it will break the taboo and in future it won't be newsworthy anyway
