Things to do before match with family?

Hi folks,
I'm bring the missus and our 2 teenagers to the game on Sat. We're flying in arriving at 9:30am in Manchester, and I'm looking for something to do before the game. I tried to book Stadium tour tickets but they are all sold out :(
Does anyone have any ideas on family things to do that would consume 2-3 hours in the morning before the game please?
Also, we got premium tickets in the 93:20 section. Has anyone sat there? Is there a good view?
Appreciate the advice,
Thanks,
Paul

seats are nicely padded
view is decent - you're in a corner but middle tier.
the 'special' bar is shit. slower than the one on the concourse when went to the chelsea game and they ran out of pies!

I love the Museum of Science and Industry. It's very fascinating (and free) and there's something there for everyone to enjoy.
It’s quite far away from the stadium, though...

I'm not sure how you are fixed for getting around but The Lowry is good for s couple of hours. A few shops, eating/drinking places, art galleries etc. All the info is on the web.

I brought my wife and young lad to that before and we all enjoyed it. A lot of interactive stuff.
I'm over for the same match but taking the ferry and driving.
Usually when we go over my son likes to get to the ground early and soak up a bit of the City Square atmosphere.
Certainly when he was younger he just couldn't wait to get out to the ground and there's usually something for the kids to do.
This time around I'm going to try and get there on time for a shandy in The Townley. Open his eyes to a bit of that atmosphere.

Well it's there or Star Wars II, Mary D's.
He's seen the civilized Manchester.
Do you reckon it's a bad idea.

Mmmm...the Townley should surely make him want to be a fan of any other team in the world unless he has a penchant for the reminiscent scent of "almost" or "couldabeen."
Take them somewhere nice per the suggestions above and then pop into City Square....i love just soaking up the atmosphere there on a matchday. Even 2 hours before a match. Take a walk the whole way around the stadium looking at the awesomeness on the outside of the stadium. Pop into the City store. Have a couple scoops, and then find something fun to eat. Before you know it you've killed 1-2 hours and yr buzzing for the match.
The Townley's fine and all that, but it's the last place in the world i'd head if i wasn't meeting some old friends and/or i had my family with me. Even just the lad. It's more than a bit shite. It's depression-inducing. No joke. I'm getting too old and cynical to maintain an appreciation for certain things I suppose.
cheers

I know where your coming from. That's been our routine up until now.
We've walked by Mary's but couldn't bring myself to take him inside.
He loves City Square.
I was wondering if I should leave The Townley this time around as well, maybe leave it until I get my brother over for a game.

well then lay down the law...on pain of death, none of those goddam bags in my line of sight, or you all die. Simples.
I miss the era when men were in charge of something other than internet messageboards.

Thanks for the great suggestions guys. I think we'll try the football museum and then head to city square for around 1pm. See some music there, see the team bus arriving, do the City shop, have a beer or two, some grub and soak up the atmosphere. Forecast is good I think, so should be a good buzz there.
Just hope the team can do their bit....
