I'm quite fond of the guy's name that did the report into Russian doping, "Dick Pound" - he sounds like a porn star.

Sepp Blatter & Michel Platini appeals against bans rejected

Fifa president Sepp Blatter and vice-president Michel Platini have had their appeals against 90-day bans rejected by world football governing body's appeal committee.
They were suspended in October while Fifa's ethics committee investigates corruption claims against them.
Blatter, 79, is accused of signing a contract "unfavourable" to Fifa and making a "disloyal payment" to Platini.
Both deny wrongdoing and will appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
Blatter's American lawyer, Richard Cullen, said in a statement: "President Blatter is committed to clearing his name and hopes this inexplicable delay is not an effort to deny him, during his elected term, a fair hearing before a neutral body."
Platini will contact Cas by Friday and has "absolute confidence" in the Swiss court, lawyer Thibaud d'Ales said.
"For the first time since he was suspended he knows that he will be treated in a completely independent and fair way," he added.
Fifa secretary general Jerome Valcke was also suspended in October but there was no mention of him in Wednesday's Fifa statement.
The adjudicatory panel of Fifa's ethics committee is due to hold hearings into the misconduct charges before Christmas.

Uefa chief Platini - who wants to succeed Blatter as Fifa president - has said the 2m euros (£1.35m) payment was "valid compensation" from his time working under the Swiss more than nine years earlier.
They insist there was an oral agreement for the payment in 1998, although it was not made until 2011.
Blatter and former France captain Platini were suspended after the Swiss attorney general opened criminal proceedings against Blatter, who has been Fifa president since 1998.
The ethics committee also opened an inquiry into Platini over the payment.
Platini's ban means his bid to succeed Blatter has had to be put on hold. He is one of seven candidates for the presidential election on 26 February but no integrity check will be carried out until his case is resolved.
Blatter was discharged from hospital last week after what was described as a "small emotional breakdown".
Earlier this year, United States authorities indicted 14 Fifa officials and associates on bribery and racketeering charges. A simultaneous Swiss investigation was started into the bidding process for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.

And other 10 around town

I'm waiting for them to catch up with Infantino - another smug cunt who liked to mock City through 'Fair' play. Bet he's a bit nervous after Platini's demise.

Cant help thinking there's been a little word somewhere in a dark corner from Sheik Mansour or Al Mubarak over the last 7 years.

FBI agents are searching the Miami office of Media World, an affiliate of Spanish media giant Imagina Group, as U.S. authorities prepare to disclose a second wave of charges tied to the business of soccer, a source familiar with the matter said.

Media World was one of the unidentified sports marketing companies identified in a U.S. indictment in May as having agreed to pay a bribe to a high-ranking soccer official in the Americas, sources told Reuters in July.

A Reuters photojournalist in Miami on Thursday saw FBI agents entering the Media World office and FBI vehicles outside the building. The front entrance had been cordoned off with police tape.

A new wave of FIFA indictments by the FBI. 5 current or ex members of executive committee involved. Many others too. 8 guilty pleas apparently.

Argentine FA presidential election ends in farce as extra vote cast

The Argentine Football Association had to abandon its first democratic election in 36 years when organisers discovered an extra vote had been cast.

The vote between interim president Luis Segura and entrepreneur and television personality Marcelo Tinelli ended in a 38-38 tie - from 75 assembly members.

Segura has been acting president since Julio Grondona, who ruled the AFA after taking office in 1979, died last year.

"This is disconcerting and even embarrassing," Segura said.

The acting president suggested he and Tinelli, who ran on a platform of ousting the old order, could try to find some common ground and work together.

Segura added: "We will call a new election if it has to be done but we will try to follow a path that maybe this error was a message for all of us to analyse forming one common ticket.

"If that doesn't work we'll call [another] election."

...not sure it really needed the shots of the 72 year old journalist wearing his undies in his hotel room!!....
On a more serious note then it now seems compelling evidence is being assembled by the Swiss and FBI to bring down the house of cards.

You wonder what will happen next. History (prem league, champs league etc) would suggest the most powerful federations could break away. Presume they might have some legal constraints to deal with but what do we think - is a breakaway new group going to be better than a reformed from within FIFA?

BBC saying that the ego that is Blatter is holding a press conference at 10:00........... The press shouldn't show up and he might have another "medical emergency" that is a bit more longer lasting...

Platini is already appealing having had the arrogance not to show up to his hearing and fined £54k which he would have earnt in interest on the £1.3M he's had off UEFA!

Let's just hope the FBI turn up the heat on their inquiry so they end up with custodial sentences

Blatter and Platini banned from all football related activities for 8 years. So they are being lined up as management dream team at Manchester United.

He looked fucked at that presser and what was the plaster all about?

He is 1000% finished in footy and in business but hey what the hell does he care he is loaded and has been creaming off FIFA for years and years he should be inside IMHO for all the dodgy deals he done.

I'm not upset about his and Platini's demise both and bent and corrupt we should bring a case againt Platini for the way he has handled FFP.
