It has been by far and away the best transfer window in my view. Not only have we done our business but none of our rivals have improved and the shenanigans at the swamp have been comedy gold.

The fees paid for Sterling and KDB will prove good business in years to come as the next TV deals, both domestically and internationally, will mean huge increased revenues which will in turn increase transfer fees. By which time the academy will be churning out players who will either be first team squad players or be sold for decent money like Lopez.

We will be so far ahead of the rags on the field and possibly off it too. Loving it

Probably, but the Robinho window felt like winning something then and there. It was mesmerizing, captivating and one of the best days of my life.

Yes. I think it will prove to be so. Other windows have been great and nothing will beat the takeover and Robinho. That was the day when everything changed.

This could and I think will be the day where we really see a change in the sense of consistency and challenging on every level with more.fire power in every position than we've had before.

I think the Bobby Manc window that led to us actually winning something at last probably had a greater impact on the club, but the problems of our so-called rivals, and the start made by the team make this one feel better.

This was the summer where we were outed as unmistakably the most dominant force in English football, while the other top clubs being shown up to be skeletons of what they once were, making it the most gratifying of all the windows post-2008.

Previously it may have been mainly buying power that landed us top players, but looking at signings like KDB who turned down Bayern and PSG to move to City, if reports are to be believed, speaks volumes about our increasing pull as a club, and how far we have come.

This is what we ultimately wanted (besides kicking ass): respect and validity, and although this may be just be the beginning of an attitude shift, it gives us a sense that this period has been the catalyst that will lay the foundation for us and those who were here before us to smile down upon.

Only time will tell how good the deals are.
On the surface it looks like we may have overpayed for Sterling and De Bruyne, but they were both signed on long term contracts and they would have cost a hell of a lot more if we'd waited for the 70% rise in domestic TV fees to kick in next season. I really don't understand why other clubs with money aren't investing now.

United have only got Martial on a 4 year contract (+ 1 year option - whatever that means) so if he turns out to be any good he'll be available on a free before he reaches his peak! Ripe for the picking.

I was thinking about starting a thread about this topic as well.

The window of 10-11 comes to mind, but I don't know if Silva, Yaya and Balotelli were as coveted as Sterling and De Bruyne were this summer. Yaya was, at least in the eyes of the general football public, a defensive midfield player that had been made redundant by Busquets, Silva was not what he is today and Balotelli was at best a young prospect (19 at the time if I remember correct?) with bags of potential. Sterling and De Bruyne will of course develop further (at least we should be able to hope so) but they are already at a level where they can be considered star players. Don't know if the same could be said about the three mentioned above. Not really a galactico window perhaps but not far off it. I'd be tempted to say that a window where we buy an already developed star a la Messi or Ronaldo or Iniesta compares to this window as this window compares to the 2010 summer transfer window.

Or am I underestimating how coveted Yaya and Silva were in 2010?

its not just the players brought in but its also the position of the club at the time as well as what those players meant to/brought to the club.
