Why are the filth getting snubbed by the best?

It does seem that the shite are shopping for second tier players these days. There doesn't seem to be a plan when it comes to transfers, rather a scattergun, comedy approach. It seems remarkable that they have got to the last ten days of the window with neither a top class centre half, or certainly a striker. They get giddy about Soton players or fading stars, but now seem to have seen the reality that they are not good enough, but why is that?
Are the biggest clubs refusing to deal with them, preferring to not have a resurgent united? Is the coach being as mad as a badger, putting players off? Is it because they don't look like serious competitors? Have the Glazers reverted to the penny pinching type? Have they told Boxhead he has spent enough now on making them average, or maybe no longer trust his judgement? Are they saving the 'war chest' for Guardiola? Or are there just better alternatives elsewhere for top players now?
Whatever it is, right now it's enjoyable. I really hope they get to September without a top class striker.

Whilst I'm enjoying the schadenfreude I also remember when our snubbed thread was 18 pages long.
Just goes to show that the best players see sustained Champs League performance as a key factor.
Hoping the rags resort to a last minute panic buy of Charlie Austin at £20m

One reason they are being snubbed...there's a bigger & badder team in Manchester, that, or they really have fallen so far! They won't get top 4 if they don't sign a half decent striker, who have they got if Rooney gets injured? Januzaj the one season wonder? They're on a steep decline, and I, for one, am loving every second of it, long may it continue.

They'll get top 4 ... who's gonna challenge them? Loserpool? Don't see it ... unless of course Saints or Spurs or Swans or someone else have a stellar season and make them fight for it ...
Agree about the bigger badder team in Manchester though!

This.
Top players are normally choosy about going to england and know it's a dog fight. Without similar quality next to you it's gonna be a scrap every week.

More and more potential signings are actually doing their homework and are choosing geography over history.

And for a sane manager and in front of decent fans, preferably at a club with a reasonable chance of winning something too.

They are capable of winning something though, the wenger trophy is highly sought.
Give it a few years and we should rename it the "insert generic rag manager" trophy.

It's a bit odd, considering the resources they have and that they won the Champions league like... what? 7 years ago and then played in the final one year later. My bet is that Ferguson did much by himself and there was no real organization left when he retired. Surprising though that they're still struggling with getting it right, again, with the money they have. Long may it continue.

Glen Hoddle, supposedly with no Scum connection says things like - when you give the ball away here you expect to be punished (or nearly).
No Glen. They have been shite for 3 years. Forget the old habits!
