TBF, I've not seen or know much about KDB (a bit ironic having started the thread), if those on here that follow Italian footie are correct then we do need him for consistent set pieces, other than defence is certainly something hasn't progressed and definitely needs addressing?

German football :P

Do we have a plan B if we miss him?

I really hope we are not doing another Hazard and we get Sinclair move.

Guilty as charged, PWP!!

Just seen a report saying that Wolfsburg have put a £50M price tag on his head after failing to convince him to sign a new contract. A change from last week's "not for sale" stance.....

Watched him in that Arsenal house party. Seriously classy player, would do well for us.

The pyschological lift this signing would give would be immense. Possibly worth an extra couple of points v chavs. Get the deal done and suddenly the doom and gloom is lifted. A midfield general looks out of reach now so lets get this guy whilst we can

This is the first thread I dashed for after reading the Guardian article about us now being his "first choice". If this goes through, then the pundits may have to re-think our designated fourth spot for this season, despite our defensive woes.
Unless of course, they are rag apologists who want to try to derail us with their mind games.
The only downside if this goes through is that it has been left too late and he wouldn't have had enough time to gel with the squad.

Yeah, but if we sign him by the weekend , he would be allowed to come on as a sub against Chelsea in the last 15 mins and provide the assist for, or better still actually score, the winning goal.

Typically reliable guy on Twitter says clubs are negotiating and Kevin wants to come but Wolfsburg are asking for ridiculous money

Easy, put a transfer request in lose signing on fee and get it back in bonuses.

We still need more though.

My mood will only be worsened in under two weeks if we start Kola against the chavs and in have to see his tracking back even closer.

I don't see a big gap in cliche vs Kola tbh. One more defensive one more attacking. Neither are worth a shit when it seems to matter but then they pop up with the fantastic game once ever 6 or so and it keeps them alive.

Cheers

It's strange how perceptions and requirements change over the years.

A long time ago when I used to play football, admittedly at a not very high level, if anyone joined the team and, in spite of them being committed and enthusiastic, there was a doubt about their ball skills or technical capabilities, the solution invariably was "oh, stick him in at full back" - the inference being that he couldn't do much harm in that position.

Nowadays, the role of the full back has changed so completely and the modern player has to be able to tackle like a terrier, go past opposing players like an old fashioned winger, be a '100 yards in 10 seconds' sprinter and also be a marathon man to boot.

It's a technically, positionally and physically demanding position to play and, just like goalkeepers, anyone who wants to perform in that role must be downright crazy.........

I bet it's also a very fulfilling one to play as well.

I hope the spafia will get this deal sewn up as soon as Dzeko completes his move if not before. I read a couple of articles saying the scum are starting to sniff around KDB

Also, a couple of Spanish reports saying Manuel wants Godin from Atletico

If everybody would shut the fuck up like City and SOME other clubs do, you wouldn't hear anything at all until it's in 'Cheshire Today' - or nowadays, until you get your e-mail!
