I've wondered that too. As it goes I think Navas would make an excellent wing back. If Pep should ever wish to go with or source the correct personnel for three at the back, then Navas and Kolarov would make good choices for wingback.

I think NB, it's also been mentioned somewhere on the forum that, as a wing back, Angelino would be more suited to that role in the Prem, than as a more 'conventional' left back, so that could be something for the near future to contemplate.

However, in this scenario if it was intended to use Kolarov and Navas as the wing backs, that would just leave selection of the three centre-backs to be determined. Stones goes in without thinking and, in the short term, I suppose Otamendi would be slotted in, which just leaves the problematical (?) third spot to fill.

Kompany would be the obvious choice, but his injury record now seems most critical and we might not be able to rely on his availability 24/7. On that basis, I'd opt for Sagna, which would suggest Stones in the middle, Sagna on the right and Otamendi on the left, unless we went the whole hog and played Tosin in one of the three positions.

I'd like to know what your thoughts are NB, as you can often be relied upon to come up with something interesting.

In terms of three at the back, like you say Stones is a given. Otamendi would surely take a second slot. Assuming Kompany can stay fit he would take the third. Having two others alongside him might also take the strain off him a little as he theoretically wouldn't need to dive in as much or be caught out of position as much.

Failing that, then we either buy or promote. I liked the look of Tosin in pre season but the EDS game I saw the other week he looked very unsure of himself. Whether he has the mental ability to step up we shall see. I think physically he is there. His positional sense will need to be worked on as with all young centre backs. I don't think the EDS play three at the back though, could be wrong, so it isn't as if he would step in to that scenario like he's played there consistently. I still think Bonucci is on the radar. I also think Fernandinho could slot into a back three as well. As a DM he is not far short of a third centre back anyway and him, like Stones and Otamendi can pass the ball intelligently and decisively. Of course three at the back is not something we have done much so far so it is likely just conjecture on my part. But with Chelsea's recent upturn in fortunes coinciding with their change in formation, it may be something we have up our sleeve for certain games

If we ever get Bonucci, I'd hope we would go for Chiellini as well, in spite of their ages.

I think Pep sometimes thinks the best way is to play as many Spaniards and Spanish speakers as possible, in that formation Jesus will flourish.

i can't see him scoring for City ever again. not only because he rarely scores but I doubt he'll start another non-Cup match for the rest of the season, barring mass injuries and suspensions.
I'm not really a City fan. I'm just here for attention.
