Aren't they proper shit? He'd learn more going on loan to stockport

Not necessarily. Playing in a team where he has work to do could be a very good experience for him. They're fast and tough out there at least, NYCFC have started to play some nice football now. Their stadium is big, full, noisy. He's eighteen still, dead young, and itd be for a handful of months and back in October. Don't see how it wouldnt benefit him really?

People get far too hung up on the quality of the league. It's about playing somewhere he will get tested physically. Everyone was saying Scotland was too shit for Denayer a year ago...that turned out alright.

It's not so much the quality of the league, rather the quality of nycfc.

You mentioned Denayer, do you think his move would've turned out well if he went to St Johnstone instead of Celtic?

Shit is a bit harsh, it's their first season as a club, give them a chance.

I think it's a good move, they use the same blueprint as us so at least we know he'll be playing the right way, he'll get experience of senior football too.

i think it would be the equivalent of going to Stockport.

Total waste of time if he's worth a shit imo. He'd be way better off going to Ligue Une, or La Liga in the bottom half of the table.

Playing the billard ball game at NYCFC is a fucking joke imho. For a player who fancies himself playing in the CL and for a top top club in Europe, the league is still shit, and the play is shit and the competitive nature is shit.

End of story.

cheers

So many of our posters know what's good for the younger players development. Can't understand why they're not working in the game as they are obviously experts. Think I trust Vieira's opinion

People are acting like a short loan spell to an American team for around 10 games until the start of October is gonna make him regress. Baffled as to why. He will most certainly learn something from it at very least. Even if its just a chance to play against adults in a controlled environment where he'll definitely get games, alongside Lampard and Villa etc. That IS better than the EDS.

A 'proper' loan can still happen after that.

I should imagine that's exactly what he has been doing.

Just people talking tripe for the sake of it.

If these kids are as fragile as some make them out to be, they will be no fucking use to us whatsoever. It's a right load of cock.

(Btw, Patrick Roberts is on his way by the look of it, where's the academy thread ...).

OK we'll just nothing ever again about anything then. Jesus. I'm guessing you have no opinion on the first team or transfer targets etc either, as you are not an expert and don't work in the game?

If this is true it would be better if he went somewhere where he could play in a European competition like Denayer last season. The MLS is a waste of good grass.

NYCFC has the same holistic approach and coaching ethics, he will grow as a player, playing competitive football against men with 3 points on the line every time. Its ridiculous to say this move is a bad one for his education.

He would be playing, out of his comfort zone, against full grown men, some of whom are experienced internationals, rather than vs kids, & he will be back before the season has really got started.

My only gripe would be, whether he gets games. He is an inexperienced kid, who has never had to defend against adults, in an environment where people's jobs are on the line. If he plays, it's a brilliant move imo. I hope he goes.

Surely it's a no brainer. Play a few games against some decentish players. Come back match fit to a loan at Celtic or Leeds or some other such side. And, if he has excelled at NYC, maybe the odd game for the first team.

Get it on

Said this in another thread, but I definitely think he'd walk into the starting lineup on footballing merit. The other options at LB are a converted winger (Javier Calle), and two older vets who are much less skilled than Angelino (Wingert/Brovsky). He'd be a big step up over all of them at the position.

MEN have now confirmed Angelino headed to NYCFC when the MLS window opens on 8 July - story includes quotes from Angelino about MLS and NYCFC, Shay Facey, etc, so appears to be a done deal.
