if £15m for Charlie Austin is a bargain then whatever peanuts roma is paying for Dzeko is a daylight robbery.

The two prices amount to a swap deal in effect.

One player is three years younger, scored 17 league goals for a dogshit side and has won fuck all in his career so would likely be hungry for success. He is also English. Ticks a lot of boxes.

The other had run his course and had a very poor year last year. Now, I am a fan of Dzeko and think what he has done for us is great, but it is time to move him on, for both parties. If a replacement is needed Austin is not a bad shout IMO

Marca claim Diego Godin turned us down when we triggered his 40 million euro release clause because he wanted to stay in Spain. If we offered that much for a centre back I can only conclude that we're prepared to sell Mangala. I don't see how it would make sense otherwise. Not sure I believe it. If we are selling the Mangler I think I'd rather beat Chelsea to Stones to be honest but really I'd far rather we got a top left back like Sandro from Porto and de Bruyne to gee up our midfield. If the Mangler doesn't come good Denayer's ready and waiting.

More likely we've been used by Godin's agent to ensure a satisfactory conclusion to contract negotiations - whether we were interested or not is not the point so may mean nothing in terms of Mangala if we weren't interested

It may not be Mangala that we are looking to replace either....

I got smashed with Benzema's brother a couple of years ago in a small town just out side Leon. We gave him a lift home, god knows how as we had been drinking for the best part of the day. The local land lady took a shine to me so kept giving us free beer, then dropped the bombshell "be carefully of him he's a bad man". It turned out he was something of a local thug lol but he liked us crazy English piss heads.

Nothing personal at all mate, but I just hate it when people refer to twitter in general as a source. It's a red flag or whatever you call it. The important questions is WHO on twitter is claiming this? :)
"I used to be 6 foot 2 with curly hair, look what it's done to me"

"In my career so far it's the most important goal. You score the goal in the last minute to win the title. You're not sure if that's ever going to happen in your career again. I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

German football journo Philip Harmeling broke the KDB bid story and Italian football journo / writer Palmateri doing the Benzema story , I don't EVER post anything from twitter other than stuff from creditable sources ......... nothing personal !

Tancredi Palmeri is not a reliable source IMO. He has indeed twittered that we bid 70 million euros for Benzema on Thursday and haven't had a reply. I don't believe it because Pellegrini said very recently we were not in the market for a striker at all. I doubt Benzema would want to compete with Aguero for top dog status especially as we don't always play two up top any more.
