FA Cup Final: Arsenal v Aston Villa

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

FA Cup Final: Arsenal v Aston Villa

Postby Beefymcfc » Sat May 30, 2015 9:01 am

Big build-up by the Beeb. Just watched the '73 final where Sunderland, then 2nd Division, beat Leeds who were well fancied to win it. Dave Watson and Denis Tueart played in that game, both moving to City within the next couple of seasons.

Arsenal are heavily fancied today, but I have a sneaky suspicion that Tim Sherwood has other plans for where the cup will end up.
In the words of my Old Man, "Life will never be the same without Man City, so get it in while you can".

I remember that final. As a kid, I was in awe of that double save from Montgomery. Went out to play football immediately after the match. Everyone wanted to be in goals.
Also remember being thrilled when Tueart and Watson came to City.

Come on Villa. I hope they win it after sparing us from a Stevie Me love in today. It's good to see Prince William will be there supporting the Villians. He's no glory hunter supporting them.

I don't want Arsenal to win but....

If they win Soton qualify for Europe at Villa's expense.

I'm guessing Soton are hoping for a Villa win then.

was there a full day of build up for our finals?

Wigan - definately wasn't as it was bloody played in the season.

reminded me of how pissed off at Wembley I was, when, in a shite atmopshere, our current crop threw the final

BT Sport did a full day build up when we beat Stoke. Not sure about the Pie Eaters game.

Much better having back as the last game of the season, I love all the build up and fingers crossed for Villa. A win today could really help them attract the buyer they very much need. I like the club to be honest, always a good hunting ground for us.

Lovely ground is Villa Park. I was there on Tuedsay lunchtime for the Birmigham Schools U15s final. The lads who played won't forget that day. Some long range goals too, which were amazing at that level. I was impressed that Villa allowed the ground to be used. About 500 supporters, really good atmosphere too. It's amazing too how small the stadiums look when they empty.
After the ball was centred, after the whistle blew...

Plumping for Villa. If nothing else so Wenger doesn't win another trophy. It might be a springboard to allow them to get a couple of decent players in and have a real challenge next season. Sooner they were downbeat over the summer than on the crest after a Wembley triumph.

Just thankful starfish isn't there

I have a slight preference for Villa, but don't really dislike either team, even Whinger's moaning is becoming comic. Best team on the day to win, then.
