Who brought him should pay his salary and fee, not the club.

Let me see Txiki handle that.

What do people honestly expect us to be able to get for someone who's started less than 20 games in 2 years?

X2. Sadly we want shot of him and there's not exactly a queue of clubs bidding for him. He has a reputation for being unwilling to play through the slightest discomfort. A waste of his undoubted talent. As for us we've moved on.

Excellent post Twosips, I'm out of the country so haven't got time to catch up fully, if this has finally done then time to draw a line and even possibly lock the thread? From what I've read over his tenure, he only has himself to blame, not our club!

Because he is clearly a top quality player. WHich ever way you look at it 10 million (which will probably be paid over two years if reports are correct) in todays market is fucking joke. You can go on about injuries etc but even Rodwell went for more than.

Surpirsed no English sides have come in for him he has the potential to be a real top class player.

So what would you say would be a fair price then? Rodwell went for the same amount and that's with the English premium.

I don't doubt Jovetic's quality btw.

Considering we just spent £5m on Roberts who has never scored a senior goal and has had only cameo appearances, then £10m for an International captain who though has been very unlucky with injuries, has undoubted quality and still has an excellent minutes to goal ratio, is very low for my money

Well, having spent the last 12 months desperately trying to sell this bloke it looks like we have settled for a loan deal. I don't think our hierarchy would let this happen with any other player but it shows how utterly perplexed they are with his determination to avoid playing football.

If that is correct then all transfers need not be discussed for value for money etc.

If it's such a shocking price then why isn't there a queue of clubs trying to sign him?

Putting the fee to one side - disappointing (rather than shocking) as it is - am I right to say we need him gone to make room within the squad for incoming players - we must be thereabouts to being maxed out?

Exactly. The risk is too high for anyone but the skint Italians.

I'm not saying you can't debate a transfer but clearly there is fucking zero demand for his services outside of a shit loan and sell on deal, maybe.

Now if Scouse filth came out and Brenda yapped about having a 15m deal rejected then we could have a conversation. But no one wants him.
