Blatter cannot be extradited from his native Switzerland to the US without his consent but he risks arrest in many countries. He will not travel to Canada for the Women’s World Cup final in Vancouver on Sunday.

“Until everything is clarified I won’t take any travel risks,” Blatter said.

However, he will be traveling to Russia for the draw for the qualification matches for the 2018 World Cup on 25 July.

Swiss people can be extradited to the US under current agreements. Perhaps the only restriction to this is if a Swiss court/judge, determines that the criminal laws that have been broken in the US , are not crimes in Switzerland.

There's been a very sudden about turn from Blatter about the voting for 2018 & 2022 WCs. Looks like the hounds are circling close as he's starting to lash out blame at everyone around him, saying France and Germany influenced people's vote due to their own economic interests. A very stark change from him insisting that FIFA is a legit, clean organization.

I meant Russia in the 2018 vote, I wrote the wrong date - it's a matter of fact Platini voted for Qatar in their bid, and he paid them a visit just before the vote (and I take it for granted that there was collusion between Russia and Qatar to avoid their bids conflicting with each other)
