de Jong

Strong rumours that de Jong will be signing for the rags this summer on a free as he has yet to agree a deal with AC Milan and apparently he's got a good relationship with LvG.

He was linked with them last summer when LvG took over, but with him being on a free this year it looks more likely he'll make the move.

It will leave a sour taste in the mouth of most City fans if it does happen. Are 'we' going to stop idolising him if he does move to them?

Wow, what a moral dilemma that would be.

Silence. Heartbroken silence.

He's a quality defensive midfielder for me, better than Fernando. I hope it doesn't happen! He' s 30 so will bring some composure and experience to their defence. I love his attitude and he would get initial warm applause from me. If he crunched Silva, Aguero etc. I suppose my attitude would change. I regret him leaving.

How long was he with us for? Was it two and a half seasons?

If he's so good, we could sign him back & he wouldn't sign for them.

He's looked rather past it to me when I've seen him. Still getting in some good interceprions but also getting wildly & hopelessly stranded at times.

It shows how far we have moved on. We used to sign their ex-players who were approaching the end of their careers.

He's 30 and the same age as Ferna who you wouldnt say was coming to the end.

Fuck me players get old quick these days.

He's a lot closer to the end than the start, and isn't going to improve much now. People say our squad is aging and few players are much over 30.

Doesn't alter my point in any case.

I wonder how many would be saying he's past it if the rumours were that he's coming back to City...

I thought the general feeling was he was a useful player for certain jobs & great dressing room character but slipping a bit off the pace, when he left ?

I suspect the prospect of him signing for the rags irks those on here posting, he is past it. I certainly don't like the idea that an ex one of ours is potentially joining the rags whilst having something to offer
