Transfer gossip: Pogba heading to City for $75 million

Postby JamieMCFC » Fri May 08, 2015 3:21 pm

With speculation suggesting Yaya Toure could be heading out of Manchester City this summer, the Citizens appear to be lining up a top class replacement.

Well, that’s if you believe reports from the Daily Mirror newspaper in the UK.

According to the Mirror, City are lining up a mega $75 million bid to lure Paul Pogba away from Juventus this summer. The report also suggests that City may offload Samir Nasri, Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic to help fund the move for Pogba.

Pogba, 22, has four years left on his current deal at Juve and the side who have won four-straight Serie A titles have no intention of letting their French international midfielder go. However if City come in with big money, it would be hard for Juventus to turn that kind of cash down.

Currently out injured, Pogba missed out on Juventus’ 2-1 win over Real Madrid in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semifinal in Turin on Tuesday. However the Frenchman has an outside chance of making the second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday and will get the chance to showcase his talents on Europe’s biggest stage.

The man they call “the Octopus” was named the best young player of the tournament at the 2014 World Cup as France made the quarterfinals. Quite why Pogba, who left Manchester United on a free transfer in 2012 after coming through their youth ranks, would want to leave Juventus and head to City is a head-scratcher. But when you think about it, the Citizens could double or even treble his weekly wage of $120,000 at Juve and may offer him the chance to lead their team into a brave new era with the likes of Toure coming towards the twilight of their careers. Pogba would be the perfect replacement for Toure and the two-way midfield is suited to the style of play in the Premier League and possess an incredible engine to get around the pitch.

It is believed Chelsea, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal are all chasing Pogba but the likes of City and PSG are the only clubs likely to be able to afford the transfer fee of more than $75 million.

Can you imagine the looks on the faces of Manchester United fans if Pogba, the man the Red Devils let leave on a free transfer, returns to the Premier League and rips it up with City and helps them clinch more silverware at the expense of United?

And how many soccers do you get for one football?

Nice if true. I know nothing about Pogba but if he's the latest and coolest toy, we should buy him.

I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

So far very little on SSN regarding City transfer rumours.

I wonder how big Haley McQueen's arse is in real life, compared to perhaps a small coffee table or maybe a Volkswagen.

Whatever it takes if he comes to the Prem.

Not the same mistake as with Sanchez and Hazard.

I would give Juventus Toure , Nasri and Dzeko as a swap!

Volkswagen's "the thing" sized

I'd love a crack at her plush vehicle.

Cheers

Such a shame he wouldn't give the Count a chance.

Really still feel so positively about him. The passage of time makes me feel Mancini played a political game with him to paper over his European failures. And tevez wasn't having any of it.

Be interesting to really find out what happened. Zabba will have the real story in his memoire---- "I Bled Blue"

I think there are only two possibilities. He is going to knock back every offer except PSG or he's already on his way to City in exchange for Yaya+makeweight.
