One of the best games I've ever seen from him defensively.

Played his part in the goal too with a super supporting run down the right to occupy their full back as Silva cut inside.

Very good all round display but sorry Mase, it doesn't happen often enough.

If there was any reason to trust that he would turn in performances like that regularly, then most would. But he simply doesn't & can't be trusted imo. He played like he cared yesterday. Often he plays like he doesn't care. It seems to go on what mood he's in.

I think he knows we may sell him & is trying to avoid it. Once he succeeds in convincing them he should stay, what happens next ?

Question is where did THAT performance come from ????

Excellent defensively and good again going forward , his best performance this season by a mile .

Three excellent blocks yesterday. I can't remember him doing that in all his time with us.

That's a bold statement, Clichy is a better leftback all in all.
Kolas best game for us yesterday, fair enough. What a shot he had!

What is Clichy better at than Kolarov? Genuinely. Because they're both as bad at defending.

If you took 50 games, Clichy would be shite defensively in about 5 or 6 & ok to good to excelllent in the rest. Kolarov would be utter shite in 25.

Well, for starters Kolarov is the worst defender at the club by a country mile. His positional sense is awful, his tackles rash, his decisions whether to show a player inside or outside is poor, his ability to stop crosses is generally poor. Clichy is better than Kolarov in every one of those areas.

Pointless arguing with you though isn't it, as either you just don't see it or you're determined to not let your internet persona / caricature slip

Perhaps Kolarov was boosted by the (ironic?) twitter man of the match award last week? or maybe he is playing to keep his place at the club? or impress a future club?
Whatever the reason he was a transformed player yesterday with energy and desire. He would certainly be a "keeper" if he could sustain that form.
All to often in the past he has seemed "not bothered."

This, indeed.

Or he's trying to help make sure he is less likely to be sold to a team too lower in stature.

Both as bad? I find that a hard statement to hold up to the evidence.

Clichy has had some poor performances, but he is more frequently good or at least not bad in defence. He's also quicker, and has a better attitude on the pitch. You never see him mail it in.

All in all I would say that neither Clichy or Kolarov is good enough as a starter for City given our ambitions. They both have their pros and cons; Kolarov offering more offensively and Clichy being relatively more solid defensively. Both of them have matches when they perform well but neither of them have shown they could do it regularly enough.

Issue here though comes in how to replace them. We can't shift out both of them at the same time and given that Clichy counts to the home grown quota it becomes an easy choice. If we can sell Kolarov, he will be the one leaving. Angelino seems promising and I hope City have a clear plan for integrating him in the first team over the coming years. Relying on Clichy and Angelino for next season is probably too risky though. Ideally I guess is if we could bring in a left back who's clearly better than Clichy (which improves us already from next season) and let Angelino be integrated in the team over the coming 2-3 seasons and when ready he competes with this Mr X about the starting spot and we could let Clichy leave. Problem is I can't see any good candidates as to who that left back would be?

Can't disagree with any of that. I think that it's essential we evolve into Angelino style fullbacks if we want to continue this attacking style & do it properly, but I think we are looking at 2 or 3 seasons in order to get there.

We have been linked with so many, it's hard to imagine there isn't some truth in the rumours. Gaya is good, but very small like Angelino. Being linked with some African kid now.

The only, yes, one single thing that I've ever posted on this forum which is remotely ITK, was regarding Mancini's last months at the club. You're welcome to try and find anything else though.

People who questioned my information on that point, are welcome to ask me privately for the source of my information, which is 100% verifiable, and to date of the few who have asked, I trusted their discretion not to repeat it on the public forum. You're more than welcome to do the same.
