This is bob on for me.

Win the league you get in Pot One,it will shake up the seedings and also mean for differing groups.

So what if we get another group of death? It's like that all the time.

Agreed.

I actually think the only teams in it should be the champions so it is right that they are top seeds.

Do away with any sort of seedings or pots and have random draws. If Bayern, Barca and Madrid were drawn with City then so be it. The bullshit that you can't be in the same group as another team from the same country should end as well.

Sick of that nonsense. It'd vastly improve the interest in the group stages if they got rid of that rule. However, the whole thing is a money-spinning load of bollocks as we all know, so nowt will change.

Agree with both comments , we have been "drawn" in virtually the same group the last two seasons . Surely if UEFA opened up the you can play teams from your own country it would open up vastly who gets who in each group and becomes more interesting instead of for example Man City can only be in group B or D and get Bayern , CSKA or Dortmund yet a fucking gain ;-)

The concept of the champions league odd greatly flawed. Any change to shake it up is ok by me. We've been getting nowhere as it is.
Tracking back is overrated.

Whilst it is long overdue that an anomaly like Arsenal's annual cosy trip out of the group stages be addressed, there will be little difference in the outcome.
Yes, Champions should be seeded, but while coefficients still decide the rest of the line up, countries are kept apart and the TV schedules hold sway, not much will change. It will be the same old faces in pot 1, taking their Champs League money back to their domestic leagues to dominate once again, this qualify once again, and round and round we go. We will be still be flirting around the fringes of pots 2&3. Bayern, Barca, Madrid et al will still be assured a reasonable passage through the groups.
We will continue to struggle until we either shape ourselves and win a group, or put together an excellent performance in the last 16.
Basically, it will be more of the same, otherwise the ex G14 clubs wouldn't have agreed to it.
Tinkering at the edges I'm afraid.

Not necessarily piccs.
if athletico had pipped Real, pot 1 would have had 3 Spanish teams in.

I think you'd be surprised where the power lies here. The champions league viewing figures for the group stages have been falling for several years, and this is almost certainly coming from pressure from rights holders about advertising revenue.

Whislt the clubs have certainly got a say in the decision, as soon as the paymasters start to kick up a fuss things have to change

It's a step in the right direction to make the groups more interesting, although not sure why it's being reported now when this was all agreed ages ago

"For the 2015-16 campaign, the eight top seeds will be the champions from Europe's top seven leagues and the competition's holders."

So let's say for argument's sake Munich win it, will this mean that the runners up in Germany will go in as pot 1 or will the winner of the 8th strongest league in Europe be pot 1?

Come to think of it, which league is considered the 7th strongest?

I'm assuming the top six are

Spain
Germany
England
Italy
France
Portugal

Just googled it and according to Wiki you're right. They currently have Russia at 8 and Holland at 9.
