How are we looking for pot 2 though? The change to Pot 1 gives us a somewhat better chance of getting through to last 16 as winners of our Group. Might get PSG or Zenit rather than Bayern yet again. Not an easy draw but doable.

Latest co-efficient has Utd and Arse in pot 2 and us in pot 3

Is that based on who actually qualifies? Or is looking like qualifying?

its from the media round up on the OS
http://www.mcfc.co.uk/News/What-the-pap ... -2015-5126“UEFA has confirmed a new seeding system which will see the champions of the seven biggest leagues in Europe named as top seeds along with the Champions League winner,” reports The Independent.
“Chelsea are 10 points clear in the Premier League race and look odds on to be title winners and be among the eight top seeds in the Champions League draw in August.
“Arsenal and United would both almost certainly be among a strong group of second seeds due to their high UEFA club ranking but City have dropped out of the top 16 clubs according to UEFA's latest co-efficients.
“It would be the first time more for than a decade that Arsenal and United have not been top seeds.
“City were not top seeds last August despite being English champions while Chelsea and Arsenal were, and Manuel Pellegrini's side ended up with another tough draw against Bayern Munich, CSKA Moscow and Roma.
“If the Champions League winner is also their domestic league winner, then the champions of the eighth-ranked association Holland - likely to be PSV Eindhoven - would be named as top seeds.
“UEFA's new Champions League regulations have been published and state: "The first group comprises the title holder (top seed) and the domestic champions of the seven top-ranked associations in accordance with the access list.
“"If the title holder is one of the top seven associations' domestic champions, the group is completed with the champion of the association ranked eight."
“UEFA general secretary Gianni Infantino said: "Football is about winning, it's about competition, it's about sporting merit. I think it's kind of a natural thing to give to those who have won a competition a special treatment like this.””

Looking at uefas site for coefficients and who is likely to qualify I can see us sneaking into pot two just maybe. And let's not forget some teams may fail to get through s qualifier too.

Rags might drop below us when the coefficients are restarted next season as they lose 37 points from 2010/11 season :-)

Looking at it, to qualify for pot 2 ( not forgetting we ain't even qualified for the tournament at the moment) we could do with Real and Barca sharing the CL and La Liga titles one each.
Then PSG to finish top in France over Lyon.
Sevilla finishing above Valencia but not doing too much more in Europa League would help some more.
If two or more of those things happened then we would be fairly sound I think.
Oh and Napoli not catching up for third in Italy. ( they are five points off the pace)
We have an ok chance.
But I could be wrong. Again.

There are a lot of variables, true. And it is vital we qualify. As somebody else pointed out we could catch the shite's coefficient. Also Dortmund are going to drop as are Shalke. If we do end up in Pot 3 we are almost assured another wretched draw. We have to improve our standing in the competition to get off this wheel of misfortune and mediocrity. At the same time it would be advantageous to have the filth's position weakened further. We need a good finish to the season for so many reasons.

Cheers. I would have thought so. I'd also rather see the team that wins the league be rewarded as the top seeds, and glad Arsenal and United won't get the free ride anymore as well.
Unfortunate we may drop to the 3rd pot, but we got what we deserved for our performance in the league this year anyway when we should have been challenging for the title.

It's a token gesture from UEFA & the ECA to make it look as if it improves things but in reality not much will change. The old teams may not be in Pot 1 but they'll surely be drawn, in that simplistic way that UEFA do, against similar sides they were before, what with the coefficients, not being able to play against a team from the same country and TV packages being involved.
Not trying to be cynical but the only thing that will change is the likes of the Rags & Arse won't be in Pot 1, but they'll still get the same draws as they did before.
I do hope I'm wrong, we'll just have to wait and see.
In the words of my Old Man, "Life will never be the same without Man City, so get it in while you can".
