In fairness Carl I don't think he's getting a bye. Most people acknowledge he isn't playing well. In my case I just need more evidence that he is the sole problem, before deciding to chuck him out of the club. If he is trouble making, fine. But I wouldn't be too hasty to lose someone like him.
