Manchester United and Manchester City will look at the possibility of buying Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale in the summer, according to Graham Hunter.

There has been much speculation over the future of the two Real Madrid players, especially given the difficult run of form the Spanish giants currently find themselves in, squandering their La Liga lead to Barcelona.

When asked about the possibility of Ronaldo and Bale being team-mates beyond the summer, Spanish football expert Hunter told La Liga Weekly podcast: “Beyond August is a very, very big question. That’s because, one, I think there’s nothing to report now in that neither is (Real Madrid manager Carlo) Ancelotti sacked, nor is Ronaldo sold, nor has Bale decided to leave.

“But there is a very clear opinion among the two Manchester clubs, and I mean City as well as United, that they think they have an opportunity to come and buy Ronaldo.

“Honestly, my opinion is we have to wait and see because I think he (Ronaldo) will be tempted. He will be asked by both Manchester clubs. I think that goes for Bale too.

“It has been a talking point among the Manchester City players for a great part of the last 10 days.”

They all piss in the same pot mate. Balague was the one openly laughing on Sky Sports news at the rumour that city were signing Robinho on that famous day.

Reality in Spain though is that football at Barca and Real is so political, journalists are specifically briefed by the clubs to put stories out about either their players or players of other teams, to meet their internal political aims. For that reason, any such story about Ronaldo and Bale are likely to be coming from Real Madrid themselves in order to provoke a reaction in the league where they have slipped up recently.

Personally I think Bale needs to come back to the Premier League for the sake of his career, but whether anyone can afford him is a different matter entirely.

that said, i wonder if our current situation is down to a few of our big name players getting a heads that they're being moved on this summer to make way for new 'crack' signings?

There was an article the other week about Bale and Real's president, saying pretty much the same thing - Marca were ripping into Bale because of their connection to Barca and because Bale was his pet prurchase.

Perfect marketing business, positive story for the Rags and then offset it by promoting the business to their bitter rivals (no pun intended). If a Rag wasn't going to click because they are so used to it, with the City spin they've got the entire 250 million (Asia has sacked the other 400 and odd million) clicking their adverts.

but just wondered if it _was_ possible, how would people on here feel about signing these 2?
Can anyone see a city line up with them in it? would they fit? are they holistic enough?

Bale in a team who's built around him would be absolutely magical. He's done well at Madrid but his game is compromised by Ronaldo's.

Would cut my little toe off to get Bale at the club. Would be absolutely immense. Can't see it though, as if we'd spend £60m+ on a player, especially a player who doesn't quite meet the ideologies of the holistic men upstairs.
