Anybody think that this is where the money is, for Abu Dhabi?

I think it's about a global presence for them, as they keep one eye on the future and a time when they can't rely so heavily on fossil fuels and have to switch to tourism and service industries instead.

So, by getting into the NY market they're getting huge publicity?

I think this was a significant move for them, one well judged and I can see the US game only getting bigger and stronger. What better brand than New York (City).

The US is a massive market - there's only Brazil in the Americas with a larger population (but probably a lot less disposable income per head though). They currently have Europe, the US and Asia covered so they're well placed. Maybe they will try something in South America unless it conflicts with NYCFC.

It's all good pubilicty for them, but it shouldn't be forgotten that is much bigger publicity for City.

Whether 40k people in New York hate our guts or not, their club is based on ours, & our people are controlling it.

The City brand, comes from Manchester City, & it's going to take a hell of a job for any newer league to outdo the Premier League on a global scale, so Manchester City will be the leader in this, probably forever.

If something does usurp the Premier League, I doubt anyone on here will live to see it.

I have heard there is possibly something in the works (medium/longer term) for Buenos Aires in South America and also Lagos or Johannesburg in Africa.

The main factor in setting up a majority/wholly-owned operation is that you can basically only have one per continental federation. (I think the setup for the Japan/Chinese clubs involves less than 50% ownership for CFG.)

Very interesting idea as a whole. The Nigerian Lionel Messi of year 2020 walks his little eleven year old self through the doors of Lagos City FC youth setup and whatnot.

NYCFC scored a slightly holistic goal recently:

Nice goal from Villa after prolonged pressure with little end result.

Finished 3-1 and not a bad game from our very own Facey.

That's the rumour currently doing the rounds.

Could be bullshit of course, but i'd quite enjoy it for a few weeks watching him in that league.

Would that mean this season then, so he would return when their season finishes ?

I'm contracted to only answering one transfer question per evening. Sorry Doug.

That would be interesting. The football there isn't the best but there are some decent athletes & it could be a nice interlude for Angelino; playing v adults rather than kids. Especially as Frayyynk will be there, may be Pirlo, & the 'project' football style is gradually creeping in.

Yeah, he won't be knackered or owt either even though its mid summer as he's one of those boundless energy types. He'll be chomping at the bit to get started, i'm sure of it. It'd be a really nice pressure free way of easing him into first team football and we know he'd definitely get games too. He's really really young and this could help a lot.

Would like to see it.

Well if you think about it, he's actually already had a break for several weeks as far as I can see.
