For those wondering, it used to be 3 matches ban for such incidents, but it was changed at the beginning of the season to 6 matches to make it in line with fifa regulations.

The final one to add is a general "being a cunt" category which would see Rooney suspended for 35 of the 38 league games every season.

Yes please!! I've been saying this for ages and quite simply, as it has not been introduced, there are people who want to encourage that kind of behaviour. Why? I don't think I will ever know.

How does this particular ban compare with any punishment allocated for biting ??

If the rag is found guilty then surely the ban has to be more than 6 games as he will have not held up his hands and apologized?

Done!

Jonny Evans and Papiss Cisse banned for spitting

The Football Association has banned Manchester United's Jonny Evans for six games and Newcastle's Papiss Cisse for seven matches for spitting.

Evans, 27, had denied the charge which related to an incident with Cisse in Manchester United's 1-0 win over the Magpies on Wednesday.

"Mr Evans denied the charge but it was found proven," said an FA statement.

Cisse, 29, accepted the charge and has been suspended for an extra game as he has already received a ban this season.
