We've not signed a good one under Pellers. Fernando reminds me of Graham Baker in his pomp.

Completely agree, closest to decent signings have been negredo and fernandinho but both of those have turned very average. Navas, fernando, mangala, demichelis, caballero, Sagna, all very average and are any of them upgrades on players they've replaced? Not in my opinion!

The last signings that made any significant impact were Aguero and Nasri in 2011/2012 season.

Tbf Fernandinho was very important part in of our title winning midfield last season.
But. This summer, if/when we do business we should only go for top talent that goes straight into our starting XI. If we fail to land our top targets, keep the money in our pockets.
Personally I would have done that in January too as IMHO Bony is not player of that calibre we should be targeting. Hope he proves me wrong tho

Never suspected MDM would be one of the better ones

Negredo, MDM, Fernandinho and Navas were all great at times year so definitely made a difference.

That's a fair point, but only to the extent that the signings since our first title win weren't massive improvements (or even improvements at all in some cases) on what they replaced.....very subjective view, on the relative merits of players, but when you consider the financial outlay for a new player vs the outlay to keep the existing one, the additional expenditure in the last 3 summers really doesn't seem to match the impact.
We have bought poorly for a good few years now and our strategy is definitely questionable

We have had to hand in the books for ffp. We have not seriously been in for most of the big players.
But anyway, how the fuck can Negredo & Demichelis, for a start, be poor signings ? Navas has failed ? He made no difference last season ? Fernandinho made no difference ?
Sagna is a very decent right back for fuck all.
Jovetic looks like he will not be staying but we will get decent money for him.
Fernando is struggling but it's not a certainty that will always be the case.
Mangala is the only one which will be a huge flop IF he doesn't make the grade, because we will lose a lot of money.
What percentage of other clubs' signings do people think are usually a raging success ?
Give a few examples of clubs who have signed players over a couple of years, who have all been a success.
