Who Gets The Chop ?

Postby Ted Hughes » Tue Feb 03, 2015 7:00 pm

Champs Lg squad goes in today does it not ?

I'm guessing Jovetic but hoping Kolarov.

If it's Ed, he will be well pissed off.

I'm plumping for Edin. In Europe we can get away with 3 rather than 4 strikers and Edin offers the least in terms of work-rate.

In the MEN poll Dzeko has 28% of the vote and Big Willy is no2 choice with 26%

It has to be Bony imho.
He's hardly back for the first Barca game and will have zero game time (or even on the training ground) with the rest of the lads.
I also think that's the easiest and most diplomatic solution in order to keep all players happy and motivated for the run-in. We will probably need them all to beat their best.

Cabllero or Bony

Cabellero, who basically doesn't save anything at all - remind me again why a) we have an overseas reserve keeper, b) why we paid £6m for a keeper who is zero improvement on Pantilimon

If not Cabellero then likely Bony who will have likely played 1 game and had 1 week of training with us.

Bony has to be in the CL squad, we want to get through don't we. Jovetic has been gash and doesn't deserve a place in the EDS at the moment so hopefully him.

Bony is the thing that could terrorise Barca - they won't want a big, powerful striker who's good in the air. If this time we can manage to not look like we've won a raffle to play at the Camp Nou, we'll need Bony.

Jovetic on the other hand...

Jovetic for me. His injury record will count against him. No point leaving Dzeko or Bony M out, if Jovetic then has an injury.

Can't see it being Boneh.

Gotta be Jojo. Willy or Aleks seems like tempting fate without enough cover.

Cheers

I assumed one of the attractions of Wilfred was his eligibility for the CL?

Assuming it's a footballing decision and not 'which player will be least offended and not throw his metaphoric toys out of their pram' AND we may only play one more game 'anyway' I'd plump for Jovetic!

I think he's sadly failed to perform, consistently, since his arrival and I believe he recognises this fact.

That said, I also believe this decision will precipitate the exit of said player in August.

Id be possibly looking to keep all our attacking options. Bony is a must as we have looked so short of cutting edge this season on so many occasions.
But if it is to be 'one up top' then it might make sense to leave a striker out. If that were to be the case then it has to be Dzeko. Awful season offering precisely nothing.
I think I would plump for Kolarov or Willy. But it would be a gamble.

I'd go for Kolarov. Mangala or Zaba can play left back at a pinch. He'll be massively pissed off of course. However, if Pogba is available in the Summer Kola might be in play anyway. I'd keep in Dzeko just but I can see both he and Jovetic on their bikes at the end of the season. We might get in Ings on a free as a home grown player and play the Nigerian kid as a fourth striker. Bony will be second striker I'm sure the moment he gets back.
