Unfortunately, when we play under par, the blatant penalties not given and general performance of the referee gets forgotten.

Ref does his job fairly and correctly and we'd be talking about "winning ugly".

We'd be talking about winning, certainly.

I loathe that fat cunt.

Yep, I think we have to be realistic that with 22 shots on goal, 2 penalties not given, boro's 2 goals should really have been consolations, so there is no doubt that this wasn't our day

But, Souness has just made a brilliant observation regarding the first goal and our attitude. 5 different city players lost challenges in the immediate run up to the goal, which looks like a team that wasn't committed.

That second half was the worst I've seen us play this season. Even a good first half doesn't make up for it.

The players need to have a fucking long look in the mirror

I remember watching the End of Season review when KK was in charge and we won Div 1 and he said there was a game early on in the season where he was still giving people chances and that match we lost and he realised he can't give people chances anymore because they didn't deserve it. Pellers needs to look at himself and wonder why he still keeps giving some of these players a chance when it's clear they're not arsed.

My river might've been a bit muddy, but Boyata was far from our worst culprit today. Our best defender today.

They're slating him on Setanta saying Kompany needs someone decent beside him. I'm with you on this one. He wasn't perfect, but he was certainly better than the rest.

I thought he was considerably better than Kompany today.

Nothing wrong with Boyata. The problem was the same as last week, Aguero, absolutely awful. Which shows the margins for strikers are waifer thin. When they start flying in even he wont know why. Funny old game.Boro were excellent.

No lame excuses about penalties not given, the ref, the conspirancy or anything like that. Fact is boro should have been 4-0 up before 60 mins.

Mourinho says he feels ashamed and the players should too. I hope Pellegrini says something similar. Quite obviously the Abu Dhabi trip should have ended after the match on Wednesday but that said the second half performance was a disgrace and not the first this season at home by a long chalk.

First half - good and acceptable.

Second half - utterly diabolical.

I really hate the clubs attitude towards the cup competitions. We just wear players into the ground. Huge lack of nous and forward planning and it's just tedious watching us bring out a slightly weaker unmotivated first team for every cup game. Fucks sake give a kid a go. Get some energy into the team - give the crowd a reason to get excited.

Lost a huge amount of faith in Pellers as a result of the horrible predictability that was today.

Not having Dowd as an excuse or people having a go at Jovetic & Boyata, compared to Kompany, Zabba, Kolarov, Aguero, Silva.

Totally let down by our most experienced players. End of.

Jovetic was bright i thought - one of our better players in the first half. Boyata was fine too. Navas had a good first half as well I thought and i agree that Fernando wasn't *that* bad at times either.

The second half we just bottled it and panicked and our composure went, Kompany was even shiter, Boyata got a little nervy as a result and so did Fernando. Jovetic ended up isolated as we grew increasingly nervy and eventually it just became a shambles.
