I have been very impressed with Kane. Intelligent, hard working, skilful and a deadly finisher. I accept he's a Spurs fan and unlikely to leave the club in the short term, but one for the future? Clyne looks good.

The only English players I'd be interested in are Ross Barkley, Fabian Delph and Raheem Sterling.
all 3 of those are massively inconsistent, Delph is just another Milner but not as good, Sterling is great on his day, however, those days are quite rare but he is only a baby in terms of his development. Barkley has shown that he can do it but is poor way too often. However, of the 3, Barkley is the only one I would take as I think he can be coached into our way of playing and be effective.

I would say our recruitment policy is quite tough at the moment. Leaving FFP aside we surely must be looking at the best of the lads coming through and not blocking them with new ready made first team players brought in.
That's why I thought Sagna was a good buy as a short term measure if we think we have a serious option coming through the youth set up.I think we do in Maffeo.Maybe similar with Angelino on the left side but neither is ready to be thrown in just yet as I think they are both 17 and really that's a tad too young for the premier league. Although the way Kolarov has been playing I reckon Angelino would be an improvement even now.
Central defence we have 3 at the moment with Denayer looking like he will be good enough to come into the squad if not next year the year after. As attacking wide or midfield players we have Lopes and perhaps Barker who could be worth involving more next season. Well maybe Lopes as a true squad member. We have defensive midfield sorted for a while so it's really the creative players we are looking for.
Again we have some quality coming through who are not ready but I would hate to see their options just blocked off by top new recruits. One maybe ( Pogba maybe or Barkley if the price gets sensible) but we have to look closer at the talent coming through.Just not an easy call for a manager expected to win the league and wanting to do well in Europe.

I'd be wary of signing any due to the money involved compared to the flawed product we would be purchasing. Sterling is the nearest to a genuine Premier League player who could rightfully be considered as a starter for our team at this moment. But he plays in open space most of the time for Liverpool, not vs a back 10 like our players have to do.
Barkley's potential is obvious, but the way he is playing right now, I don't think he would even deserve to be in our squad, let alone the team, on merit. We really need to see some proof that he is actually going to get better & not just stagnate like most English kids have done over the years.
Ntcham's performance vs a Shalke U21 side most of whom looked at least 25, suggests he could be able to compete in midfield against adults in the near future.
Then we have Barker, Ambrose in attacking positions, both of whom will be pretty strong physically by next season, Lopes & Denayer who are playing & starring v adults now, then we have decisions to make on Fofana, Cole both of whom are a decent build & able to play in proper games already.
Then we have a shedload more, who will come through during the course of next season & get physically stronger as well as better, & another bunch just behind them.
We should only sign an English kid if we are confident they will be good enough to go straight into our team.

It all makes sense to me. From what Doug and Ted are telling us about the quality of what is there now and what is coming after, it makes sense that City should not have to pay extortionate prices for players to fill squad positions just because they are English. Every squad has at least a half dozen players that you might not call world class but they are good enough as cover for any premiership team. If City have players that would at least fill that role in the squad coming through, surely it's time to start using them. You can then keep your money for the real spending on nothing but A-listers.

I'd like to see Harry Kane at City. Seems to be an intelligent footballer, great attitude and work rate and clinical finisher

Id not buy any from other clubs , Id much prefer to get some of our youngsters in the first team. According to some of my mates who see them often Id say we have a few options that are justified in having them in the first team squad.
As for Barkley....he gets dispossessed more often than not.....10000% not worth anywhere near the money that gets bandied about. Sterling is worth the money, same as Austin and Kane...apart from those I don't see many others.

I think there isn't much value in English players.
I honestly believe we had one of the best in Adam Johnson but he has to be happy playing the odd game and coming off the bench. He can change a game and playing with better players should have made him
Better and more focused.
The only English player I'd pay money for is John Stones at Everton. Good man marker, quick and comfortable on the ball. He'd probably be around the £20-£25m
Mark but if we threw in a player like Nastasic then maybe £20m. He's a future england captain in my opinion and would slot in with Vinny moving the left centre back.
