Yes. But he's a dick.

I can't argue with that.

How did Kasami's goal not win?

How is it better than Rodriguez's goal you ask?

Chested onto the volley just like the winner, tighter angle, actually having a defender within 5 yards, AT PACE no less. Easily the better goal.

Spot on. Cahill's wasn't bad either. Does it all genuinely come down to online votes?
Serious question.

I think Kasami's goal was better than the three finalist's goals by an absolute mile:

If I had to choose mine would be Yaya's versus Villa. Amazing to see it in the flesh. I'm probably biased but I loved that goal. Pace, power and precision.

Agree it was the best of the three, but the question is, if she wasn't Irish would you have voted at all.

I didn't vote, sorry Steph

Sorry I think you are all bonkers. The shot itself was great, yep wonderful, but if playing in the male leagues she wouldn't have got into the midfield shooting position. Just cant see it at all! Otherwise we better sign her up quick.

Demba Ba's goal at Anfield should have won it. Combined skill, grace, a cool finish and some high class comedy - what more do you want?

She would if she had been playing for Roma, CSKA or Burnley, at our place..

Or if Nastasic was marking her.

I know where John's coming from, but was thinking the same myself. I've seen plenty of defenders standing off their markers 20 yards out, in the Premiership.
Not everyone gets that time but basically it was 1, 2 bang. Quite a lot of teams stand off, outside the box. If you have the skill to put it in the back of the net from there, good luck to you.

The best example of standing off was Keith Curle, when he saying to Ryan Giggs "go on then shoot" and the fucker did and it nestled in the top corner. Wanker.

Not Curlie's finest hour.

I thought he was fantastic until his hamstrings went though. One of our best ever defenders.

In a typical rag game now, defenders stand off & that goal from Roche could be scored if someone had the skill & daring to do it. Obviously there is an element of fluke about it, but she went for it, & she did it & was fotunate enough to have someone filming it.

I don't understand why many of those goals are in the list though. Some great goals, but many not the best ones at all imo.

Which takes me back to my original post. Is it the power of social media that gets you nominated and then short-listed, in the first place?
I don't think it is like that in the Ballon d'Or where professionals vote (I don't honestly know).
I don't think Stephanie's goal looks out of place. Like you say she's lucky it was captured on film.

Like I keep asking. How are they nominated. Is it purely down to YouTube hits and the likes.

Apparently a panel of experts decides on a shortlist of ten which is then voted on by the public to reduce it to three.

I guess because the vid of Roche's goal went viral it came to the attention of the panel.
