Why.dont.we.flog him now then?

I think he is worth more to us as part of our English quota than the couple of million we would get for him

Where do we draw the line though? 5 year deal? 6 year deal? 100 grand? 200 grand?

Bye Jimmy, thanks for the memories

Alot of headwobbling required by some on this thread. Letting Milner leave for peranuts wouuld be a MASSIVE mistake on so many levels imo

Hes a goner, plain and simple.

No point selling him now as with Nasri injured we need him for the last 4 months of the season. With him and Lampard offski in the summer, and Ya Ya's skills continuing to wane as they will with age, we need central midfield reinforcements.

No, what I am saying is that if he doesn't sgn s new deal, he is probably worth more to us staying to play, than the small beer we would get for a player with just six months left on his contract, if we sold him now

If we got rid of Milner now by saying Sign it before the end of Jan or you are out of here, would he lose any entitlement to this years silverware (if we win any?) Just wondering about this being a bargaining chip, after all, footballers live for trophies apparently??

I would honestly get rid now rather than let him leave for free. How about a swap with Reus plus a small amount of cash

It'd be good to get a few quid for him if he doesn't sign but I can't see that happening. Why would a club pay money when they can get him on a free in 5 months time, also allowing Milner to get a decent signing on bonus or extra wages.

Milner has been good for us, and us him, and if he doesn't stay on I'll have no problems. The issue I have is how it's come to this? We've been renewing contracts regularly and re-signing players, sometimes only after 2 years of their contract yet we only offer Milner a contract when he's into his final 18 months? If we'd wanted him we would have got that contract renewal out early, just has we've done with Silva, Aguero etc.

Then there's Milner himself who will no doubt have an idea which players we are after. He's been a bit part player in the past and has only got more game time due to injuries etc, and if we're bringing some top players in (once FFP restrictions wane) then he'll know exactly where he is in the pecking order, and it won't be for a more specialised player.

I see both sides of this and although I'd like him to re-sign as I think he's perfect for what we brought him in for, but I won't be complaining if he fulfils his contract and walks away, even if it is to the Dippers.

Milner has been harping on about not playing enough for two years, its no surprise its come to this, I dont expect him to sign. There are plenty of clubs that would want him now and for a semi decent Fee. Which is why I would try Dortmunds hand with allowing Reus to come in a swap if Milner wanted to go.

Mate, if we could get Reus in I'd give Milner to Liverpool now and not even worry about the swap with BvB.

Surely this is just old shite rehashed ?

Here's what Milner said a few weeks ago.

The versatile England international is out of contract in the summer and will be allowed to discuss a free-transfer move to a foreign club from the start of 2015.

But the 28-year-old has said he wants to stay at City and manager Manuel Pellegrini is confident the club will keep the former Leeds, Newcastle and Aston Villa midfielder.

And Milner said: "I hope it will be sorted. We're still in talks, I'm waiting for the club to come back and hopefully they will soon. But the main thing is to concentrate on football, there are so many games coming up.

"If I'm not doing my job on the field because of off field stuff then that's no good. So I let others take care of it and I just concentrate on football."

That's completely the opposite to claims that he wants to leave, & that's the player himself stating it.

So I'm calling complete bullshit on any stories that it's about playing time.

It's about the contract itself.

He did Peter but that was a few days ago. Clearly he wasn't happy about the contract offer and is holding out for a better deal. Pellegrini said he hoped it would be sorted out a few days ago but that was a few days ago. If nothing is announced by the end of the month it will be a pretty clear sign he's going. Pellegrini sees him as a wide midfielder rather than a central midfielder and that's not going to change. Whether Milner is prepared to accept that will be seen in the coming days. I suspect he's off at the end of the season.

True, but the part of the article I quoted says his agents were "bemused" by that statement.

And of couse we can't believe milner's comments either as he and city are negotiating. I think it is about both playing time and the size of the contract. We are targeting more midfielders and he knows it. So, if he resigns maybe the size of the contract needs to be high enough as it is likely his last of the kind for him in the premier league if it goes 4 years or so.

Cheeky bastard is having a free Holiday, if he leaves we should be looking at his share, say £525.00 in cash for his flight and hotel. Only fair the Yorkshire tight arse.

I am defo in the want him to stay camp . Has been a good player for us and. A solid pro . And if he goes fair enough . Seen out his contract with little to no fuss . But I really would like to see him go abroad .with maybe the exception of the chavs ,he would strengthen any of " our other rivals".
