Wilfred Bony - possible January Signing

Just watching the dippers vs. Swansea; very impressed with Bony, technically very competent but also a strong battling centre forward!

He's not as good as Sergio, I know, but would he make a good 'second' to Kun? Downside would be his attendance at the African cup, along with Yaya.

I wonder how much he'd cost us? £10-15m?

Try 30 mil.

No other reason for Swansea to sell.

Wow, that much! Is he worth £30m to us?

Would he fit City's style?

Not worth 30 mil to me. But why would they sell him for less at this time ?

No point splashing the cash on someone who we won't have when we need it most. May as well either look for a loan/stop gap or wait til sunmer

Isn't Cole back soon?

It will depend on how long the Ivory Coast remain in the competition, especially as they only just qualified!

Could be back before the end of Jan? If so, would he be worth the cash?

Cole? As in Devante Cole, EDS?

Yep. Can't do any worse than what's been tried.

I'd love to see us give some more of the young lads a chance e.g. Pozo Ambrose and Cole?

Only you can really answer that. Great question tho.

Cheers

Bony would be a great call. Strong, great technical ability, and seems like a nice guy. Think he could go for way less than 30 mil though

There's some old news, 15 Dec 2014, linking us to Bony in the Telegraph, so this transfer has been raised previously.

I assume he will have a buy out clause, like most players, and interestingly he's out-scored Sergio in the league, thus far! (though minutes played per goal, he's behind Kun).

On the plus side, he would be eligible to play for us in the CL! I think he could be a pragmatic solution to our temporary striker conundrum and may have longer-term collateral benefits?

……additionally, could Bony and Sergio play together? Pellers 'false 9' formation has been working, very effectively, during our recent striker-free period!

He could chose to play Sergio up front, alone (even at home) given David S, Yaya, Samir and Fernandinoh's excellent midfield performances!

Maybe that's how Pellers might engineer the remaining games until Eden & Jovetic are fully recovered?

……and this intersting story is doing the rounds, too!

This could fund some striker procurement post Christmas?

Good player, but i have only one question regarding him.

Did anyone saw Bony play in a rotation system? A system where he will not play every single game from the start?

Let's not forget that he refused to leave Swansea this summer because of that reason above.

Speculation is growing apropos Bony and MCFC; http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/footba ... power.html

Is £30m the going rate or the MCFC rate, I wonder?

Whatever, the link continues to strengthen. I hope we move quickly (and quietly with this or any other negotiations).

Perhaps Sinclair could act as a make-weight in the deal, what's he worth £5-7m?

……and more corroboration of this possible deal, from a different source; http://www.goal.com/en-gb/rumours/last/24

I'm beginning to feel there's possibly something substantive in this 'transfer gossip!'

Upside; top premier league scorer in 2014 with 20 goals so IMO would be prolific with the service he'd get with us / can represent us in Europe.
Downside; Will piss off to the ACoN / we'll be forced to pay over the odds in the January window / by the time he settled in we'd have our other strikers back anyhow.

I think we should buy him. I know that I can't support that logically, what with the obvious downsides, but I'd like to see him in the squad because he's a bulldozer of a player (which is something we've not had since before Negredo injured his shoulder) and he's a strong front man who can hold it up with Aguero, Jovetic or Dseko playing off him (I know that Dzeko's had that role at times but he plays best as a supporting striker picking up the loose and flourishing on balls played back to him).
