no thanks - you all have short memories re: bent officials in games vs. ajax, kiev and another team I mentioned last night that I have forgotton.

Fcuk sunday games. They equal worse atmosphere at home and worse results (anywhere pull stats on our performances in Saturday vs. sunday home games?!)

Does a 1-1 draw at least guarantee Europa given we've got a better GD than Roma and the head to head would be the same? Assume if we draw and CSKA draw CSKA will be second by vitue of better head to head with us?

A month or so ago I was dead against Europa league but going out of League cup and falling behind in Prem I am warming a little bit. Not much, but a bit. It may be a chance to give two or three EDS lads a runout and see how they do

A win, 1-1, 2-2, 3-3 etc draw guarantees a Europa Lge spot as a consolation "prize."

Sadly we do not have things in our own hands, only Roma do.

People have become so snobby about which trophies we might want to win. If at the end of the season we lift a nice shiney pot, it will have been a success.

No chance. If we're not in the CL, just focus on winning the PL, and that's best achieved with no midweek games. Chelsea will be going far in the competition too, so it'd be a huge advantage.

Still firmly looking for us to get second place in our champions league group and favourable draw against the winners of group c or h.

If it goes tits up i won't turn my nose up at playing Europa football though.

Agreed. A pot is a pot. Harder to win than the LC and we were proud as fucl of that.

Looks like The UEFA official has given the ref the nod and brought the players off.

But what the fucking fuck, we used to get decent birds with decent tits giving us a show yet now we just get some ugly bloke not knowing what the fuck they're doing! A tit alone just isn't the same.

Disappointing!

This I agree with. However it's the 26 games and umpteen Thursday nights in the Europa Lge that are off putting.

Me neither - but can we finish third? I haven't done the maths but isn't it likely to be 2nd or 4th?

1-1 draw guarantees at least 3rd surely ? Goal difference -1, wheras Roma's would be -4, head to head equal ?

See my post above Ted - yes it does. A win or scoring draw guarantees 3rd spot.

A win or scoring draw, and that bettering CSKA's result in Munich seals 2nd.

Lose and we are 4th; CSKA win in Munich and we are also 3rd or 4th depending on our result in Rome. Any loss or 0-0 draw puts Roma above us - any other draw or City win puts us above Roma.

I fear this is also true. I also fear we will have a long run to the semi-final and then lose, thus bolloxing our remaining domestic games.

Soton vs Chelsea B on right now. Vitesse have more English players in their starting 11 than Soton. Way to go Liverpool.

On the other hand, Southampton's starting eleven has played more minutes of Dutch top tier football than Vitesse's.
