Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Living in Scotland for the last 17 years has meant I have never been able to afford hundreds of quid on trains / hotels / match tickets to watch a game at the Etihad (Maine Road was never a problem as I lived in Macclesfield until I moved away from home at 18)
However, next Wednesday I have a meeting in Manchester and I will be traveling down on the Tuesday to stay overnight to attend this meeting first thing Wednesday
This obviously links in v nicely with the City v Porto match on Tuesday night and means my petrol / hotel is all on expenses :-)
There seems to be a fair few tickets available at £35 for the match so looks like I will finally get to watch City at Home for the first time in 35 years !!!!!!
I am staying at the Premier Inn directly opposite the swamp - from looking on line, there seems to be either an X50 or 250 bus from almost directly outside the hotel to Piccadilly Gardens and then a tram to the Etihad
On the return leg however, only seems to be trams to Salford Quays (which is only half a mile form the hotel but with my sense of direction it might as well be on the dark side of the moon !!!)
Any suggestions as to best / easiest way of doing this journey ?
I would drive over but ? what parking is available near the ground

Anyway walk to the closest tram stop. get a tram to town. Beer. Get a very very busy tram to Etihad or cab.

Walk or cab to town. Beer then tram back to just outside Manchester.
lets wish for good days but not forget the bad days

Nearest stop will probably be Exchange Quay. Doubt it'll be that hard to navigate from your hotel, you can get it there and return though it'll be really busy.
If you can get it through expenses may I suggest a stretch limo, hookers, champagne.

Hi Mate, you are on the Eccles to Ashton line which is the one that stops right outside the etihad. You could not be better placed, get on at your nearest tram stop and get a return metrolink to Etihad campus. cost about £3.
