Yes a big improvement. Not back to his best yet, but very involved and did a few good interceptions too. Similar improvement again next week please.

+1

Helped having Fern and Milner alongside him but he put a shift in and looked well up for it. Can't ask for more than that really. He is a class act and the powerhouse performances will come, but only if he puts the effort in. He did today, so hats off

Some good vision for his passing as well as effort to chase back and win possession, this is what we wanted from him.

not sure his effort level was much higher last season, tbh. we forgave him then b/c of the goals.

If he had pockets he would have had his hands in them tonight.Yet another no show from him this season.Pellers needs to be brave and drop him it might be the kick up the ass he needs to get him motivated again. At present he's a passenger, yes he can show the odd glimpse of what he can do but overall that's just not good enough to hold a place in the team.

Still say we should have cashed in with PSG or done a swap for a couple players with them in exchange due to FFP.

Unless he starts walking in free kicks again his will be a long season for him.

I have no problem with Yaya's performance tonight & I'd be interested to see how far he 'walked' compared to Silva or Aguero.

He wasn't too bad tonight, him and Fred were too isolated for the guts of 60 minutes, when clearly the changes should have been made after 10-15 mins max.

Yaya goes forward & attacks, scores goals etc, then is expected to be perfect at the other end. If he misses a run or a tackle, he gets serious shit for it. But when Silva completely fails to do his job, & leaves us totally in the shit defensively, it hardly merits a mention. It's always been simple imo; don't rely on Yaya as a defender. Why should he have to track opponents for 90 mins when Silva or Nsri don't have to ?

It's not Yaya's job that Milner ended up doing anyhow, it's Silva's.

Yaya on about 75, 80 mins, sprinted back about 60 yards, robbed a Roma player & about 8 seconds later, conceded a harsh free kick on the edge of their box.

And he's getting shit for it.

It's not right.

Ted, that was YaYa's best moment. Not good enough by a mile. My guess is he's either injured or pissed off. Either way not what we need. I suggest injured as a few times tonight we had perfect opportunities from about 25/30 yards on his right foot. Last season he'd have stroked them home.

I thought I would pop in to see if Yaya was getting the same stick as I have seen from a few on twitter! He didn't have a great game tonight but he wasn't alone yet others don't get the same grief because Yaya is the one to go for no it seems

It's not good at all.

He's becoming like Lescott where people just see the bits he gets wrong & ignore the stuff he gets right whilst ohers get away with allsorts. Yaya was our best midfielder tonight imo, but the wave of negativity from the fans will be reflected by comments in the media, the same way it was with JL.

Speaking as someone who has given him real shit when he's deserved it, I can obviously see the difference & that right now he doesn't deserve it, at all.

If he does have a real stinker, god knows what will happen.

Uh fucking greed.

Ted and the Lickers album "Get her Yaya's Out" isn't a smash hit.

Cheers

he can no longer be effective as 1 of two CM. He either has to be part of a CM trio or be on the bench. but that won't happen.
