Pep says Badstuber Thiago Martinez Schweinsteiger and Ribery definitely out. Robben doubtful but might play. Quite defensive; many players came back late from World Cup and many injured. Says if we don't have the ball run run run. Read press press press. Milner must play with Fernandinho and Yaya in central midfield otherwise we'll face continual pressure because we won't get hold of the ball and keep it. Aguero must start. Like to see him up against Boateng. If Sergio and Navas play we pose a real threat to get behind them. Dzeko might play to their strengths but he's a good option off the bench. Clichy to start with Kolarov again an option off the bench.

FFS start with pace and intent. Shut up the crowd.

ribery came off the bench at the weekend. and scored. maybe pep means he's still not fit to start? even with that I'm surprised b/c every indication has been that he's nearing 100%.

Maybe Ribery had a reaction after the match? Journos reporting Pep ruled him out. We're taking Under 21s Lawlor and Pozo to get a taste.

Zaba got a red card in our last CL match at the Nou Camp. The Count's banned from the touch line too. Fernando and Jovetic are out with injuries.

We should really go for a bigger scoreline than this ;) Could b a cracker this, two top teams going toe to toe. Robben out will be a big miss for them.

Will we see Mangala for this one?

Just can't get excited about the champions league knowing that we will get fucked by a ref and we will be knackered for IMO the most important 3 points of the season.

We could beat bayern 15-0 in a no mark CL group game but if we lose or draw to Chelsea because we can't put a full team out or we look knackered I will be pissed right off.

Once you have a squad of the quality we do, we really can't complain about being tired.

Of course not.

We don't stand a chance. I wish we had a decent home record a team like theirs.

I wish I was more optimistic, but I see us being outclassed by Bayern and losing to Chelsea.

I've got similar worries and feel the same way. Wish I didn't, but there you go.

Anyway, I'm just going out now to join Pessimists Anonymous.

Interesting both Pep and Lahm are making the point that the whole team has to run like fuck v City or face being hurt.

I mentioned on the other thread when discussing 2 in midfield, that it's as much down to workrate as formation & how Muller was slating our forwards for not working hard enough.

It's admirable imo that a club with such a record & a manager with such a record are so keen to put the work in, on top of their undoubted talent. It's easy to talk about it of course, but you have to do it. Last season at our place though, they did. And the biggest difference between us them (and Dortmund) at our place was workrate.

Imo if we match them for that, we have a chance of beating them every time.

As for Chelsea, if they defend like they have been doing we will fucking destroy them. I expect Mourinho won't take us on though.

nasri, yaya, aguero all of a sudden switching it on and matching their workrate? not looking forward to that.
