Wilshire is simply average and will be no good against better opposition.
Obviously what you see in the stadium is different and Wellbeck , not just because he scored was the one player that stood out in a very average team.
The back four is a disaster waiting to happen. The very idea that Jones and Cahill could play so much ping pong with the ball shows how the Swiss coach got it all wrong.
Hitzfeld would not have allowed that.
Well done Z, England 2, the tax dodgers Nil. Beat on your own ground with the likes of Edwards and Wilshore in the team (passengers for me) must really hurt, especially as you are now top 8 in the world.

Ha ha ! let me scorch another myth. All Swiss pay taxes. It's the Amis that hide their money.Swiss pay a small ( less than 1 percent) wealth tax and if you dont declare it you can lose a lot of it.
Income tax is low though. That's true.

Not at all pal, you've put it across that the team is shit but we beat the best team in the group. The defence wasn't that crap, the midfield wasn't so shit and the attack won the game.
And you're probably right, I'll argue with anybody in my head! As long as I'm right ;-)

It's all comparative though isn't it? Yeah they beat the best team in the group, but its fucking Switzerland for crying out loud. This England team would at best ponder about around the West Ham's of the premiership and the Switz would most likely get relegated. Fulham-esque or something.

By 'You' i guess you mean England :-)
I felt the Swiss team suffered from the perennial problem of having loads of work horses and are missing one or two thoroughbreds.
I was with Swiss and not the England fans.I just can't stand hearing the Arse fans singing one of their (only) two songs "I'm England till i die".
Both teams will qualify and England will lose after the group stages as always.
Mind you , If Roy thinks that the midfield and defense is ok, then it is really time for the knackers yard for him.

Where on earth do you get the idea that the Swiss 'watch Cuckoo clocks' ? They have very little interest in them. Expensive watches, yes.

Personally thought England were largely pedestrian and mediocre, with not much improvement, if any, from the Norway game. IMHO they were pretty boring from start to finish and this result will only paper over the cracks and give bloated cause for false optimism.
Shrek is a complete embarrassment and gets in the way of attacks, rather than doing much in a creative sense. He is also a complete muppet when speaking in front of the cameras.
Wilshere runs around like a headless chicken and playing 'Mr Pass Backwards' at right back is a complete non-event. When under pressure and defending a one goal lead, England don't have either the tactical acumen, or the technical ability to retain possession and take the sting out of their opponent's play.
Mind you, Arsenic Whinger will sleep well tonight after free scoring Arsenal legend Wellbeck continued his heroic, world class goal-scoring exploits. On the other hand, if a third rate outfit such as England can score two against Switzerland, in their own back yard, it doesn't say much for the quality of their team.
On that basis, the FIFA World Ranking assessments are beyond a joke.

I also believe they spend all their time eating Toblerone, didn't you know? Stop trying to cover for the fact you can't read properly, Mister 'I'll pull him up because I'm a smart arse'.

I wonder what's going through Milner's mind right now?
Should be at the prime of his abilities, last year of a contract, virtually unused by city so far and now deemed to be behind Fabian Delph in the pecking order......

Just because we're on the subject and I for some reason love this little fact, it was Orson Welles who spread the misconception that the Swiss invented the cuckoo clock in his film the Third Man, with the following quote:
"You know what the fellow said—in Italy for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love, they had five hundred years of democracy and peace—and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock."
A great quote though
"I used to be 6 foot 2 with curly hair, look what it's done to me"
"In my career so far it's the most important goal. You score the goal in the last minute to win the title. You're not sure if that's ever going to happen in your career again. I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."
