His 18th Birthday is today, so he should be now able to sign that professional player contract

A Nigerian website claims he's favourites to join Mechelen in Belgium on loan if his visa application is accepted. The move to New York City is apparently off. Not clear whether we've actually signed him.

So are no other clubs trying to steal him from us? Or did he sign some sort of pre-contract agreement or something?

Ffs.

It's been all over the internet, tv, & probably on here, that we have this guy signed up to City. We couldn't use him til he was 18.

Red tape etc will now be the next problem with Greg Dyke suddenly trying to interfere with clubs signing non EU kids, just coincidentally at the time City open a huge academy. If we can't get a permit, we probably send him away, perhaps try to get him an EU passport, looks like Belgium could be favourite (I'm there now actually) or he could soon be a full international & then he will get a permit.

I hope we can get him straight into our squad but pressure from Dyke may fuck that up.

article from a couple of weeks ago.

Iheanacho not ripe for Eagles now, says Keshi

SUPER Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, has reiterated his stance that Kelechi Iheanacho is not ready for the Super Eagles at the moment, reports sl10.ng.

Keshi, who had initially denied saying the 17-year-old was ‘too young’ and ‘inexperienced,’ maintained that Iheanacho is still not ready for the step up to the Super Eagles.

“It’s not true that I said he is too young and inexperienced but he just started. When I first proposed to invite the same Iheanacho, Taiwo Awoniyi and Dele Alampasu, I received a lot of sticks from people, especially Paul Bassey of the NFF technical committee. They were against me.

“They said all sorts of things like ‘they’re too young, don’t bring them in’ and now the same people are calling for the same players to be called. Is it because he (Iheanacho) played two matches for Manchester City? But come on,” he said.

However, Keshi went on to contradict his earlier statement of denial about not saying Iheanacho is ‘too young’ and ‘inexperienced.’

“He’s a good player and someday we will need him but we have other mature and experienced players that we need right now. But for me, Iheanacho is not ready for the senior national team,” Keshi said.

Many former players and fans have called for Iheanacho’s invitation to the Super Eagles given the team’s recent lack of spark in midfield, but Keshi’s latest stance is sure to elicit more discussions as to whether the 17-year old is truly ready for the Eagles.

Already, former Nigerian goalkeeper, Emmanuel Babayaro, has faulted Keshi’s stance on the UAE FIFA U-17 World Cup star, saying, “He (Keshi) is totally wrong on Iheanacho. Football is all about youth. Raheem Sterling is not better than Iheanacho but he is playing for Liverpool and is arguably England’s best player at the moment. I have seen Iheanacho play for Man City and he is as matured as any player can be.”

“Nigeria comes first before any personal interest. Every Nigerian wants to see the best players invited for games. It’s certain that right now I can’t coach the Eagles because I am not a certified coach and I don’t need the job. But we should be winning with our best players.

“Iheanacho hasn’t been playing in the Premier League and it simply tells you that Man City wants him to get more experience.

“He is not part of the team at the moment and he has to get more experience and maybe see if he has what it takes to be there.”

Sounds like Nigeria will hold us to some bribery to get him into the team so that we can get him into the Prem.

On the verge of the full Nigeria team, which will increase his case for a work permit, should we apply for one.
