He may not have had any other option.

We may not have had the money guaranteed to Monaco in time, or we may have pulled out.

Apparently, according to Bollockegue, the rags are paying €65 mil for him. It's a permanent deal with the first year a loan.

So, 'desperation' doesn't cover it.

No way would we be in at that price.

One of the Sunday papers reported RVP needed a knee operation that he deferred for the WC. May be unrelated but could provide a reason for the season long loan.

There are suggestions that we pulled out of this last night.

Someone else may have bid. Arsenal perhaps ?

I think its the rags who are gonna be wounded.

I take comfort in that:

A) If we were interested we've not been held to ransom
B) Hes expensive,
C) Had a major injury
D) Unproven in the PL
E) Getting on a bit.

So its a year long loan deal to push the payment untill next season so FFP dont bite them.

Meaning they have allready spent most of their allowed FFP budged for next season allready.

Meaning they cannot strengthen any other position next summer without selling, and who do they have to sell? Noone worth mentioning.

This fucks them up big time next season unless some daft cunt pays 100m for Rooney.

If van ghoul is half the genius people claim then he will play Rooney in midfield. With him there they may be better suited than we all think.

Cheers

They aren't in Europe this term, which means they can spend what they like, if they buy him next season and they breach FFP(ya, right) then the following season would see sanctions.

All summer long people pilloried England for not playing him in his proper position, striker.
So now they are gonna shoe horn their highest earner into a position that is not his best to accommodate a new expensive striker?
When they still have such glaring deficiencies? Nice plan

I honestly though Balague knew everything. He said on tv last night that Falcao was joining us. Seems he knows jack. Negrado likely to stay now and Nastasic and Sinclair.
