The beast

MEN speculating that he's basically for sale if someone offers 25 million. Other reports suggest newly endowed Valencia really want him. Whether they'd stump up that cash for someone who won't be fit till the end of the September at the earliest is another matter. There have been suggestions that he's unsettled which would not be a surprise. Clearly he had a miserable end of last season with his shoulder injury and then the disappearance of his form and confidence. The result was that he missed the World Cup which must have been a huge blow to him. Then he breaks his foot in pre season. He will surely be left out of the initial CL squad and Dzeko and Jovetic's form doesn't suggest he'll easily get back into starting contention any time soon.

The Club always think ahead so they must be considering options now. Is there a young promising home grown player who might accept being down the pecking order for a time? Alternatively might Negredo be sold this window and say Falcao be brought in on loan? However, a CL place would have to be found for him. Soriano is looking to build a decent war chest with the sales of Garcia and Rodwell followed by Richards, Nastasic, Sinclair and Guidetti. Add 25 million and we could potentially afford a big signing. Who might that be?

What are people thinking about the beast's future or lack of it at the Club?

This is going to be a long season and knowing what sicknotes Jovetic and Sergio are, we need to have someone lineup up if we will let Negredo go.

For 25 mil i would sell him. Like him a lot, but if someone would pay that, we should sell.

This would be good logic if it wasn't for the fact that Negredo was injured for half last season & is injured now, wheras Aguero & Jovetic aren't.

At the moment, yes. But it would be a miracle if those two stay fit like Big Ed is. We need four strikers.

Would not at all be happy about letting him go without a equal or better replacement lined up, and that seems unlikely at the moment.
Falcao on loan would be just pure magic.

I think Negredo, has a home sick issue and best for all he moves on.

We do in theory, but we haven't had 4 strikers, because Negredo has been as injured or more injured, than the other 3.

I can't see anyone buying him while he is injured, January maybe.

Radio Valencia say Valencia have contacted City about Negredo and that Real are waiting in the wings. I'm sure City are prepared to sell at the right price. The question is what their plan would be to accommodate his departure if it comes to that. They must have one. He will clearly be left out of the initial CL squad if he stays so a foreign import would leave a problem. Who to leave out instead? Willy? He wouldn't be a happy bunny but no one else would either.

What, we're not giving him away? Makes a change.

Going nowhere.

Have you any further details about his homesickness issue ??

I'm not doubting what you say, but I'm genuinely interested as to what his psychological frame of mind is.

Early in the transfer window a few of the tabloids ran the story that he was homesick and the links back to his home club came about. A month later he personally gave a statement saying that he doesn't cry that easily.

Negredo said: "I don't want to leave City. I'm very happy and very settled here.

"I had a difficult end to the season and that's why there has been a lot of talking but I've been very happy here from the first day I arrived."

There have also been reports in Spain that Negredo is homesick.

Some went as far as suggesting Negredo has fallen out with manager Manuel Pellegrini over his omission from Vincente Del Bosque's squad for the World Cup.

And while the Spaniard hinted at missing his homeland, he insists it won't force him to pack his bags.

He added: "Maybe a bit more on the personal side than when we talk about football but I don't cry easily.

"I am sensible but I have to love that person a lot to be homesick."

Thanks Beefy.

That puts this issue into a little more perspective.

Surely falcao's stock has dropped just as much as neggers?

I'm normally a homer and love our players and this is no exception. Hell get back to form and be the beast again. Give it time

Valencia sporting website Sillasgol says we have pretty reached agreement to sell Negredo to Valencia. Real might come in late. Could we go for Falcao on loan right at the death?

When everyone's fit, he's 4th choice striker imo behind Sergio, jojo and dzeko. Given that Sergio is world class, jojo could well be and edins just signed a new contract, I'm not sure if the club sees much of a future for negredo with us. Especially as next season devante Cole and Ian will be banging on the door for that 4th striker position (hopefully). Still, hope he can somehow recapture his last seasons Form.

if we sell Negredo, and i REALLY hope we don't, i don't think we should bring in Falcao or another BIG NAME striker.
theres such a thing as having too many good players in one spot. last year we got "lucky" in this respect in that Aguero and Jovetic were injured…and i guess thats always a possibility…but if we bring in Falcao and have Aguero, Dzeko, and Jovetic all healthy there could be some unrest amongst those players that could disrupt the team mentality etc.
