MotM v The Toon

Some good performances considering and we didn't really give them a shot on goal.

"In my career so far it's the most important goal. You score the goal in the last minute to win the title. You're not sure if that's ever going to happen in your career again. I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

Top three for me were Dzeko, Fernando, and Silva (roughly in that order). Good offensively from Yaya but not quite up to speed defensively yet (he did get back and help out a few times though, just a bit rusty I think).

Dzeko for me. Fernando second and a mention for Clichy who did well at RB. shame that he'll be on the bench on Monday after that performance
I'm not really a City fan. I'm just here for attention.

Fernando for me.

Thought he played very well, particularly when you consider it was his first Premier League match. He put in many crucial tackles and blocks and didn't stop running the whole match.

Great start for him with us.

I went for Clichy but it could have been quite easily Silva or Dzeko. Clichy just ran that line really well and often cut across to cover.

Edin for me. Hold up play, all round effort and back heel for goal - good performance.

Fernando - Covered every blade today and filled in for the usual lazy Toure performance.

I thought David was excellent as well.

Dzeko for me.

He ran his socks off all day, some of his hold up play was fantastic and his defensive work at corners and free kicks were important.

Good performances from silva, clichy and fernando too, great way to start the season and bring on the scousers next Monday!

You can't be a real country unless you have a beer and an airline. It helps if you have some kind of a football team, or some nuclear weapons, but at the very least you need a beer.

I was torn between Ed and Silvia - but just talking to Newcastle fans in the bar here - they were in total agreement that - "...we simply could not control or get the ball of Silva" - so that sways me

And me - very competent at right back.

Dzeko showed real strength in holding up the ball holding up and linking play.

Silva was on it

Fernando settled in very well

Aguero class finish

The rest weren't bad either!

Clichy today looked far more settled and accomplished playing right back then he did in any game at left back last season.
Would normally give motm to Dzeko who was superb but since he was playing 'out of position' of sorts, it goes to Gael for me.
