If he lives up to his name we'll have the hardest defence in the league haha

It's not him, it's the Kompany he keeps.

I think it's Mon-galaah

As many, I preferred Benatia but can't complain with this.

It's a lot of money and a big risk essentially for a player who has done little.
Let's hope he can settle and learn very fast, he will need to.

Nah, every commentator on TV knows that a 'G' is pronounced as an 'H'.

So as on tv it has become Van Hhhhaaaaal. It becomes ManHhhhaaaala.

Simple as that . Mangala ! you see , sounds classy already.

Seriously, a lot of money for him being touted, he better be worth it.

Why are we paying 32m for someone who cannot even get into the French starting 11?

Why have we signed on a five year contract someone who cant get in the French squad? I have read this drivel about he cant get in the team so what Deschamps did not get the French squad which had some top players such as Benzema Pogba etc playing brilliant football so maybe its more to do with the manager than the player

Yeah but that's to do with all the fall outs at the last world cup nothing to do with his ability.

Way I see it is we wouldn't have chased the guy if he was shit or they didn't feel he would fit straight in with the squad. As for the amount of money spent on him in relations to who we could have brought in, are these players available? Probably not and if they were I am sure we would be looking at bigger transfer fees. All I hope for is us getting a solid player who link up and work well alongside Komps and be around for a long time.
I haven't a fecking clue what I'm doing! Gillie come back man I want my sig back. As the Photobucket thingy gone?

Something about this has me concerned
My gut feel is that we may have just spent a lot of money on an average player.
Psg's fault for setting the standard on massively overpaying for a crap CB this summer!

Would it not be prudent to give the guy six months or so to play himself in? He's a young lad who will be in a foreign country getting acclaimatised. He didn't agree the transfer fee. The amount seems high now but if that's what it takes to land our long standing target, then so be it. Other players bandied about are well over £20m as well and might not be available, or they might just not want to come to City or their wages might be too high.

This nonsense that just because he didn't play for France means he's inferior needs to stop. Just because a manager doesn't pick a player it doesn't matter. He might not fit into the system he plays for example. Or the existing two centre backs have a good partnership which he doesn't want to break. Look at Hansen. Best defender Scotland had yet Miller and Mcleish were the preferred duo mainly due to them playing together for their club side.

We all asked for a new centre back. We've got one. Lets get behind him and the rest of the team

You don't think one of the top 5 most expensive defenders in the history of football wouldn't get into his national team regardless of the manager?

Let's facenit, this is one MASSIVE gamble and I don't understand how we can justify this to UEFA.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Why do we have to justify any signing to fucking UEFA. We were asked to stay within a transfer budget and we have. Why do you or anyone else on this forum know more about this player than Txiki and the scouting network? Have a bit of faith FFS.

I think he's referring to the €49 mil cap we have on spending. I think, in € value we've spent approx 22 mil already and with the reported €38 mil (£32 mil) spend on Mangala it will take us over the limit. Obviously we will be looking at sales (Barry - £2,5 mil) but at the moment it looks like we've thrown their sanctions back in their face.

Personally, I think the reported figure is way over value and being used as an easy read as it takes us to our maximum expense.
