City not interested in Westwood as they continue keeper search
Blues still looking for more competition for Hart after Costel Pantilimon agrees deal with Sunderland.
Manchester City are searching for a new goalkeeper this summer - but it is unlikely to be Keiren Westwood.
It is understood the Republic of Ireland keeper is not being considered as a replacement for Joe Hart's former understudy Costel Pantilimon.
The Romanian signed for Sunderland this week after leaving the Etihad Stadium at the end of his contract.
Westwood is a free agent after leaving Sunderland at the end of the season.
The 29-year-old was part of City's youth system before joining Carlisle in 2004.
City have also been linked with Malaga's Willy Caballero as they look to add competition for Hart and Richard Wright before the start of next season.

City wait on midfielder deal
Manchester City Manchester City's signing of Porto midfielder Fernando is being held up due to a £1million pay-off wrangle. The 26-year-old was promised the windfall after signing a new contract to stay with the Portuguese giants back in January. But Porto have been backtracking in the last few days and believe City should be the ones to stump up the cash. Fernando's economic rights are part-owned by his club, who feel they have already played their part by reducing his total fee from £20m to £16m. The player is currently back in Brazil on holiday and a compromise is all set to be thrashed-out between the two clubs in the next few days before he will then make the move to the Premier League champions. - See more at: http://www.sportinastorm.com/Premier-Le ... uw9c7.dpuf

One game does not make a great goalie. But the Mexican goalie had a belter last night, and a free agent to boot. Assume we've given him the once over

No point wasting a squad place on a backup GK who isn't home grown if you ask me

Saw the photo of Messi with the kid. I also saw the backlash (unfairly) he received for not shaking his hand.

The obvious choice would be Ochoa, seeing as he's a free transfer and he's been brilliant for years now and I think we all saw him against Brazil. Look him up on Youtube, his saves are nothing short of brilliant, it's just that people don't like his 6ft0 height.

However, I'd feel guilty with Ochoa on the bench, which is what he will be behind Joe.

Back up to the GK is arguably the most important squad place. Look at last season. If Hart hadn't had an able deputy we would have been in serious trouble. Picking a deputy based on nationality and not on ability could easily come back to haunt us. That said, if a better, homegrown alternative is out there then its a no-brainer. But it will always come down to quality
