BBC World Cup location

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

BBC World Cup location

Postby Ted Hughes » Sat Jun 14, 2014 6:05 pm

Big fucking window overlooking Copacabana beach.

We are paying for it & they are just rubbing our fucking noses in it. Neil Lennon is on today's panel, sharing with us his experience of World Cup tournaments.

Now Shearer & Camelcuntface, are on the fucking beach discussing England's game v Italy tonight which takes place in Manaus, a mere 1768.42 miles away.

I want to watch RTEs coverage. Can I stream it or is it for Ireland only?

Nice gig if you can get it. Imagine the hotel they'll be living in?

It will erupt tonight, the lads have been quiet so far they will prob have a few drinks in them before the England game so there will be fireworks between them. I think I'm more looking forward to that more than the match!
derby day the scores were level,

After the Euros when everybody was pissed on Live TV I'd suggest that it won't be happening again. If it does, I'll be putting a serious fucking complaint in, only because those beers will be put on expenses the tight cunts!

Did the Fail mention the combined totals of ITV and TalkSport as a comparison, or are they only having a go at the BBC, as usual?

Didn't look. Interesting point , but they are commercial operations not supported by the state. If they go broke it's tough titties isn't it ?

Edit: The same article says 120 for ITV.

Talkcrap are probably watching the BBC like you and me!

I resent any of my money being used to pay that rhombus gobbed fucker. Listening to him trying to justify that blatant dive in the Spain/Holland game was a joke. He has barely two sparking neurones and struggles to string a sentence together. What is he doing on my telly, the thick twat.

If they are not in the actual stadium, the studio could be in a portacabin at Knutsford services for my money. One big jolly for all concerned and you can bet your ass it won't come cheap

When Mandela died the figures for staff sent to 'cover' it were something like:

ITV 8
SKY 11
BBC 189

Cant remember the exact figures. There was something is Switzerland a bit before with similar figures.

If you go to Rio you will see that the government has specially constructed a media centre based on a gantry spanning the coast road to ensure an unrivalled view of Copacobana from the fort with the England hotel at the opposite end of the beach, not the best place at night. Beach cafe is below gantry and probably part of a secure area. It is PR.

Dont believe the hype. Hotels are overpriced for the quality. Sea is polluted. Football on the beach over hyped. Copacabana is dodgy at night. Media centre is at the corner with Ipanema which is the best place to be. Further along from Ipanema is Leblon favoured by the middle classes.

The new Maracana is not as good as the Etihad stadium. Access mainly by underground. The pitch is appalling. Rio is a apectacular city but take away the beaches and mountain views the reality is a city divided into rich and poor which seems endemic throughout Brazil. Easy to be seduced but the reality is not so good in a huge country with vast resources. The civil unrest has been growing for a number of years. FIFA has done nothing to help.

My world cup location was the best, a bar in Malta, half supporting England and half Italy. And loads of beer. Brilliant.

I really don't begrudge the BBC having a swanky studio overlooking Copacabana Beach, or whatever. I get precious little for my TV Licence Fee, being the miserable sod that I am who almost exclusively watches stuff on DVD, YouTube and from downloads, so when I do watch television it's nice to see something a bit exotic and glamorous for a change.

If everything was being presented via green screens from a portkabin, that's when I'd be angrily asking what the hell my Licence fee was being spent on. Football fans get little enough football on BBC television, so when it does come around I want to be able to luxuriate in it.

Not just poor, of course, but spectacularly poor. The millions eking out an existence on Minimum Wage in the UK have it bad enough, but at least most have access to clean water, food every day, communications, safe gas and electricity, a decent infrastructure, education, etc. In Brazil, the poor aren't even free to complain about being poor without the fear of brutal reprisals.

I'm enjoying the spectacle as much as anyone during this World Cup, but but much of it is being achieved via smoke and mirrors and kind camera angles. Give me life in England any day.

If you can luxuriate in watching Robbie Savage & Rio Ferdinand on Copacabana beach then fair enough. I think they're a waste of fucking money.

If it was Pellegrini, Wenger, Ferguson etc then at least there would be something in return for the outlay.

I obviously exclude most of the pundits from the equation, Ted. I was making a singular point, and didn't want to labour every detail.

It's all the cunts on free holidays there which I'm alluding to, not the actual building.
