Imo would be great cover for LB. Fills a spot for English quota. Ship out Clichy, have Cole as cover for a couple of years til hopefully one of our academy kids steps up

I've been thinking the same.
He is free, he is English, he is a better defensive player than what we have at Left Back.
If he stays in England next season he till be playing for a top 6 side that is a cert.
He was on the bench because of his age and Chelsea are strict on players over the age of 30. Azpilicueta is young and done a great job. They also have a youth player who can back him up next season.
Hopefully we will soon be in a position to start off loading players who have had better days and replace them with Academy members but we are still a while away from that.

Granted I can't make heads or tails of this quota stuff, but I thought Clichy was counted as home grown anyway?

Said the same in the pub after last weeks cup final. He'd be a freebie as well so we could obviously pay more than the £60k a week that nearly made him crash his car!

An interesting thought but I can see him heading to the MLS.
I like our two LBs.

what about a one year deal for wio as well?
why...?
1. he's going to want to prove a massive point to the rags after they dumped him
2. it would wind nqdp up more than cole, schmeichel and hughes put together

It would nearly be worth it alone for point 2!
All joking aside, i rate cole as one of the best left backs in the world i would def take him. Him sagna lescot and ferdinand not the worse free back four of all time!
I also feel he has a massive point to prove, i like azpilicueta but theres no way him out of position is better than cole, something must of gone on between cole and mourinho, that coupled with the england omission(another mistake) means he might have enough fire in his belly to prove a few people wrong.

Kolarov yes, Clichy has gone rapidly downhill this past season.
Cole would be great back up.

This reminds me of when we got Maicon and we had 3 right backs.

His cnutishness off the pitch detracts from anything he could offer on it.

maicon lol.
if we sign ashtray we will need to get rid of one. kolarov has been better this season but clichy is home grown.

^Yep.
Clichy is homegrown I believe so keeping the lot(after Micah leaves obviously) and playing Clichy(natural right footer) on the right as backup for Zabs.

Despite being a natural right footer, Clichy is hopeless at RB.
I would take Cashley in a heartbeat though.

Yes and no.
Very good player who still can do a job.
Odious character who could stink the place out and would demand big bucks, what age is he anyway?
Also I heard that JM wanted to extend contracts of JT, AC and another of the old guard (possibly Lamp).
