How long before the last sentence is wheeled out at every opportunity?

Yaya Toure has challenged Manchester City to pursue the Champions League trophy after regaining the Premier League title.

City can look back fondly on a double-winning season, with Manuel Pellegrini's men securing the league crown for a second time on the final day after their Capital One Cup triumph in March.

Toure played a key role in City's success and has already set his sights higher, demanding a long run to Champions League glory in the next campaign.

Spanish giants Barcelona handed City a harsh lesson in the last-16, dumping out Manuel Pellegrini's men in March with a 4-1 aggregate win.

But City are expected to strengthen their squad further in the summer and midfielder Toure is confident they can compete with Europe's top sides.

"Next year I think we will try to bounce back, try to qualify for the first round and second round try to get it. For me the target is to go far and win the Champions League," he said.

City's title bid threatened to fall away in April after a 3-2 defeat by rivals Liverpool and a shock 2-2 draw with struggling Sunderland.

But five straight wins propelled City to the summit and Toure paid tribute to the battling spirit within the squad.

The Ivorian, a talismanic figure in City's midfield, hopes to bring European glory to the club before he eventually departs the Etihad.

"This year was typically unbelievable. Liverpool were competing very well, Chelsea as well," he said.

"We've been on the top of the table for a couple of days and after that in the end we won it.

"It's like we never give up and continue to believe in our chance and believe that we have it. We come back brilliantly and we bounce back brilliantly and that was great. This league this season was unbelievable.

"It was between three clubs and after that was two clubs and in the end we won it. It's fantastic.

"For me the Champions League is the next target until maybe, I don't know maybe I will go in another club."

Doesn't really mean anything.

That could mean he's here for ten years in necessary, until we win the Champions League, then goes to New York.

Hes 31 now anyway. Major clubs will only be interested in him for the next year or 2 anyway. he has already said he is staying here for one. Hopefully he sees out his top level career with us.

Summer wouldn't be summer without a "Yaya wants out" story.

Precisely, he's 31and although he could probably play the Gerrard role (without the slip), only has a few years left at the top of the game. If he wants to leave in a couple of years it probably wouldn't be a huge loss. I could see him going to New York or Melbourne or another club under the City brand where his talent would get him through and he'd those clubs' profile.

He could play till he is 35/36 like Vieira did if he wants to. Not every game obviously or necessarily for 90 mins. But what a sub to bring on and what a player for the young lads to learn from and aspire to
